Default how to install GFX rear lip

this is a dumb question, but I just recieved my rear GFX lip, and muffler tips from Sewell. and it has no instructions. it came with a bunch of clips though, and not sure how to add them. also it has two tabs by the muffler cut outs that are made to slip in to the bumber to make it more secure. I'm not really feeling cutting my bumber, has anyone here installed one? did you cut the bumber or just cut off the tabs? and just use the double sided tape to secure it?

It's up to you really. If you are gonna keep it on permanently, just cut the bumper and install it. It will fit better this way with less headache. If you think you'll ever want to remove it though, don't bother cutting the bumper and just tape it. Mine is taped on with 3M and then just one screw on each side where the lip meets the rear fender well. Mine is starting to sag though on the round corners of the rear bumper so i'm gonna have to take it off and redo it. There are a few members here that have it installed (Tape only) without any noticeable gap.

This thread might help you...

I was going to post up that similar thread but killaIS250 beat me to the punch. What he said is correct. All you need to know about installing the rear lip is on stated in that thread.

I for one, did not want to drill any holes so I just used 3m tape that holds up to 5 lbs and everything has been fine for over 3+ years. However, the sides have begun to sag or come apart at the edges so I might have to re-tape it soon. I might try loctite tape found at Walmart as some other members have used this tape on their rear lip install.

Good luck.

I agree with KillaIS250. It fits better and easier if you cut the bumper like it says the instructions. For mine, I also just did tape and screws (no cutting) but there is a gap on the left side near the fender. Might have to redo mine one of these days and I am considering having the bumper cut since I don't have any plans to get any other rear lip and the gap is annoying.

If you guys want to use a strong tape, try the 3M VHB (stands for Very High Bond) acrylic tape. It's used to hold the metal panels on the side of race car trailers. I've tried it and when the surfaces are prepped correctly, this tape is extremely strong. But the down side is that it is more expensive. FYI.

Dude, if u tape it with VHB tape, u would never goin to remove it again lol... That tape is uses on the tall building's windows, where they absorb very high temperature and the 3M VHB tape is strong enough to hold it for 10 years+. Lol imagine u tape it and found the lip is some what tilted lol than u would have a lot of fun to play with.
