Power outlets problem
Greetings fellow second gen Lexus IS owners,
I recently picked up a 2007 IS 250, and in the past month I've already put about 5,000 miles on it. So far i love the car. However, immediately i noticed my power outlets or cig lighters didn't work. I checked my repair history on the lexus website and found that the fuses had recently been replaced, so I checked the fuses and they were both blown. I went ahead and changed them out of course and they worked with one of my buddy's phone charger. But, the next time i tried them they both blew out again.
I'm wondering if this is a common issue that any of you have experienced or if it possibly has something to do with my phone charger or if there is some insight you have for me.
Thanks in advance!

i've always used this type of phone charger. Perhaps the USB port functionality pulls an incorrect amount of power and blows through the fuse. I wonder what the implications would be of putting a 20 or 25 amp fuse in the fusebox would be?

Based on my past experiences, Ive blown some fuses and it was because I got a cheap charger. I got a legit one (like $10 more) and I havent had a problem since

There's a reason they are rated and set the way they are

I am using a Griffin dual port usb charger and have not had any issues. I used it in a 2005 Corolla S and now my 2007 IS 250 and have not had any fuse or electrical issues. I have an HTC Amaze 4g and if I am using Bluetooth and GPS at the same time, my phone will say it is not getting enough power and doesn't charge.
