coolant leak 09 is250 with 30k miles. anybody with same issue?
Hey everybody,
I just purchased my first lexus with 30k miles and upon further inspection found the coolant level in the reservoir is below low indicator. the bottom of the engine shows dried up coolant. it is at a lexus dealership shop now but they wont get to it for another few days. anyone know if it will be covered under warranty for repairs on parts and labor? anybody have same issue? thanks!

it could be a leaking water pump, which is covered under warranty even if it was purchased as "Certified Pre Owned" or not. It falls under Lexus' powertrain warranty of 6 Years or 70,000 miles, which ever comes first. The water pump on my 350 started going out at about 22,000 miles. Got replaced and a free loaner car while they had my car.

I wouldn't be so sure to call it the water pump, since this happens to a ton of cars (including less than a year old IS350's I test drove with a buddy who wants one a few weeks ago). A while back here is the thread on it. Wasnt a conclusive answer, but most disregarded the issue and assumed it was just hot coolant escaping through the top.

Yeah,it seems to be a common problem for this cars, but I guess it's not even the quality of the water pump. I would say that's some human factor during assembly. The worse for this or any other water pumps driven by a belt is too much tension from the belt, that's why they fail so fast.
Mine it's an '06 IS250 MT with 136.XXX no issues
I'm assuming it will not hold forever, and that's why a new pump and belt are waiting for when that time comes.......
Here is a very good DIY if have the tools:https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-is-250-a.html
Good Luck to everyone including myself!
