350 no question about it. But you probably need to drive both to see which you prefer.

I have an IS250 manual, nothing replaces the feeling of a pure manual however, I did not test drive the auto 350. I can tell you I wish the IS250 had some more power, my manual is300 is a bit quicker. Hopefully after some bolt ons I can squeeze some extra HP out of the car but I doubt not too much will come from I/H/E.

I don't think that the IS250 is lacking in power. Especially driving a manual, I like to stay in gear longer... It really depends on what cars you're used to driving. I've owned mostly just 4 cylinder cars(G20, tC, NA miata), so I wouldn't consider IS250 slow. Now if you're used to cars like the 335i, G37, STI, etc....then yes, the IS250MT wold feel like a snail.

If I were to buy my 250MT again, I would. Nothing replaces the feeling of shifting gears. And yes, I tested the IS350 too. As said before:

Go out and drive both and see what you think.

Solution: Get the IS350 and a manual sports car. It is what I did.

ive driven manuals all my life (6 cars) and the 350 is my first auto. i thought i would miss the stick, even did an auto to manual swap on the sc300. let me tell u from my opinion, at first i was happy asa clam being able to shift gears once again but after a couple wks it got old very quick. i no longerhave the sc but still enjoy 350 with them 305hp.

Prior rides were manual 1995 M3 and 2004 Honda S2000. I haven't looked back since getting an IS 350. Today's automatic transmissions are far superior to the junk that was put out 10-15 years ago.

The other thing to consider is resale. There is a much larger market for a 350 than a 250 manual.

i love my manual, nothing beats shifting through gears and working the clutch. but really it's all in your preference, manuals are more nostalgic now a days but i get props whenever people see my car's stick. some people are even like "what the hell is that" lol!

Almost as entertaining as the 350 owner posing the question

Bottom line, OP you can't know for sure which is better for you without test driving both first. There are days when I wish I would have waited for an IS350 to pop up in my price range, but having the AWD is worth it, especially for me. Not saying that the IS250MT is also available in AWD, just that for me, personally, it was the right car.

I have a manual 250 and I hate the tranny in it. If you ask me now if I would trade for a 350 I would say yes in a heart beat just cause of that extra power.

On the other hand as ****ty as this tranny feels, I would want the 250 back cause I just cant stand the auto transmission in any car, fast or not.
I've tried before but just can't.. boring.

P.S I don't even use the 200hp provided 95% of the time, and when I do it is plenty enough. only place where it really lacks is highway and that's probably 1% of my spirited usage.

Tp each their own I guess, gotta try it first.

Lexus had better make the 3IS with a GOOD 6sp gear box this time around!

Anyways, there are so many opinions and yes you cannot replace the driving experience of a manual trans. BUT, is the 100 extra ponies worth it? HELL YES!

I stepped into my current IS350 after having 4 Mustangs, all stick. Switching to the lazy mans automatic was odd at first but I totally appreciate it in rush hour traffic! To me there was no comparison.. 306hp vs 204.. you can't make it up it would seem even with a turbo/super installed. So the question really is: what's more important to you? a.) Horsepower b.)shifting

I'm not trying to knock the IS250 I'm sure it is a fine car.. but the only cars I drove when I ditched my most recent Mustang were the IS350, the IS350 F-Sport, and the ISF. Horsepower drives my smile.

Good luck in your decision
