Busted a mirror. Heated or Non Heated
Guys,
I busted my mirror on the passenger side. 08 is250, auto-dimming and heated.
Looked at Sewell and heated mirror $350(a lot)
Trying to call junk-yards, but some of them say they all Heated, but i know for sure that they not ALL heated.
I read somewhere, that heated mirrors have a 14 wires plug.
Can someone confirm????
and how to tell from outside looking(without opening) if mirror is heated.
Also, i heard that it's a pain in the "back" to replace just a mirror, any1 has advise??
or can point me to right thread??
or should i take it to mechanic ???

In most cases replacing the whole mirror is not too bad of a job. The pain looks to be when you want to change the light or something inside of the mirror when you have to take it all apart.
I would think that in order to replace it, you would have remove a panel inside the door (by the tweeter, speaker, window) to get access to the bolt(s). Then unplug the electrical connection.
I replaced one on my Honda Accord and it was fairly simple. Of course, this is not a Honda Accord but it has to be relatively simple, most, if not all of the mirrors are similar and likely connected similarly.

Yep, sorry, I said panel but it could be as simple as the little triangular plastic piece by the mirror inside the window. Once you find the trim piece and remote it, you should see the screws holding it on. I hope you don't have to take off the entire door panel.

To replace just the mirror, you have to remove the old mirror by popping it out, pulling on the bottom. Then you disconnect the wires. Then you connect wires to old mirror, then pop in new mirror from top to bottom. You do NOT need to remove any panel nor access the door.

Yes, I am 100% sure. There are some other countries that do not have heated class (like Taiwan). These countries are included in the USA/Canada catalogs, but do not apply to our vehicles.
There are only 2 choices for USA/Canada: Auto-dimming or not.

It's linked to the rear defogger. If you look at the rear defog button on your climate control, you'll notice there are actually 2 symbols on it. The back glass and the mirror.
In some cars it is only included in Cold-Area spec vehicles or similar, while others have it included in more models.
I use/enjoy it frequently in Canada, haha.

edit: but in your case, you have auto-dimming also. The part I provided is for heated only.
