Default Replacing tires--- need some advice?

Just brought IS350 RWD in for an oil change. They routinely inspected my car and found the two front tires worn on the inner edge. Did some search on the forum and I guess it's pretty typical. I can't complain since I got 26k out of my OEM Turanzas EL400.

Per the dealer, the tread wear for all tires is 6/32. But because the fronts are worn down to the cord, I should definitely replace it ASAP. Should I replace all 4 tires while I'm at it? I'm not too sure how much longer the rears would last, but I just wanted to get some good advice on that.

Thanks!

All 4 for sure. Those rears wont be far behind the fronts. 26k is pretty good for the factory's. Even if the dealer tells you you're getting the tires 10 above cost, don't do it. Their cost is very high because they don't buy in bulk.

It is hard to find a Michelin or Goodyear (high end passenger tire) that has more than 40 or 50K lifespan. The issue is that when you reach 20K miles you are already halfway through the life of the tire. I live in Minnesota and there is no way we can use a tire with half of its life left during the winter, we will slip and slide all over the place.

The sports tires are great for summer but I use my car year round and need a good all season tire. I know, I know, I am almost 40

My favorite tires are Michelin Destiny/Harmony (depending on who you buy them from) as they are 80K, quiet, and an excellent ride. However, I do not see them available for us. I do see the Goodyear Assurance Comfortread (80K) but only in the H rating. I do not drive 140 mph so I don't think I need the V or Z rated tires and just might give the Goodyear's a try when I need tires.

Alright, just ordered a set of Conti DWS. Set me back $800. Installation w/ balancing + alignment going to cost another $150 (doing it at reputable shop).

Sounds about right, I hope.....

Not bad, they have good reviews from what I can see. Try them out and let us know how you like them.

The DW & DWS tires get good reviews here from most people. Good choice!

Yeah the Hankooks get pretty good results in testing and good reviews from people too....a lot of people on the forums recommend them for the months when the weather isn't bad.

My 2007 IS250 AWD had the Michelin's wearing really funny, thought it might be an alignment thing, but that was OK. I ended up buying Kuhmo Ecsta 4X's but only have a couple of thousand miles on them and no winters yet (live in MN). Take a look @ Tirerack.com, they have really good rating and review system. You can also get a good read of competitive prices to help you determine if what you are being quoted is fair. Will keep you posted if these wear funny too.
