Picked up an 06 is250 w/navigation, 59k miles, 100k mile warranty, mint condition for 18,000 so yes, 16k for one with 80k miles and no warranty sounds doable.

I agree with others have said. Find a good mechanic... and keep searching. Also, try searching outside your local area and broaden the search to other states that are still within a reasonable distance so you have more to choose from.

I just picked up a 07 all service records done at the lexus dealership with 86,000 miles for 16,700. It was perfect. One owner. Kept in the garage, everything was mint.

I wanted an 07 since that's the year they started using a timing chain instead of a timing belt. That timing belt replacement can be pretty pricey. But keep looking, they are out there.

If you already have transportation then take your time. I had luck with my last two cars from Craigslist, SC430 and IS250. The '06 IS I recently bought for $13.5K with 75000 miles (listed for $17K and agreed at $16K), the car's GPS (very common problem) happened to die right when I was about to take possession, the seller offered to take $2.5K off the negotiated price since that was what the dealer was charging to have it fixed. Take your time looking, don't hesitate to walk away. Good luck.
