Default Adding amp to factory sound system

Has anyone successfully added a amp inline with the factory system?

Lots and lots of threads on this already bro. The two of us have done it successfully, and many others have done it, dating back to shortly after the cars first came out. Search "Stereo", "Aftermarket", "Subwoofer", "Sound System", etc..... Lots of answers available.

It can be done, but will require you to splice into the factory amp with a LOC (Line Out Converter).

You know.. if he's asking about not exactly adding a sub/amp combo.. but integrating an aftermarket amp into the existing mid/highs.. that's actually something that hasn't been written up on all that much.

I'm getting ready to swap my LC2i for an LCQ-1 and integrate in a 100x4 HiFonics Galdiator amp using the existing speakers and wires with a write up afterwards..

I did that before going to my aftermarket HU install. It works the same way, honestly. Just tap the amp wires for the mids and highs and run them to your amp/amps for the doors. I still didn't like the sound quality coming from the factory amp, which is why I ended up bypassing it completely and going with the Kenwood HU install.....

I would only consider this after the warranty expired.

The stock speakers are Pioneer and pretty good quality.. I'm not too worried. Sooner or later I'll get around to replacing them with Hertz separates anyway so maybe that will just be extra incentive

The most annoying thing really is the crappy low frequency output of the stock deck. AudioControl LOCs can only re-create the bass so much.. and in the end, the only cure is to replace the OEM deck with an aftermarket HU. I'm carefully watching the development of these new Chinese FlyAudio knockoffs to see how everyone is coming along with them and I'll probably end up swapping out some time next summer.
