Every once in a while we get someone that refuses to put aftermarket junk on their car. They pay the price difference between aftermarket and OEM out of pocket. It's what I would do... then cancel my policy with Progressive and tell them why.

BTW the difference might not be that extreme, we had a Prius that cost an extra $2 to get an OEM cover.

In all depends who you dealing with my evo ix got rear ended and they paid for all oem parts back in 2006 . I talked to the bodyshop and he told me that he fix another lexus is250 a few month ago and the bumpers had perfect fitment who knows.

I also took my car to the dealer and got an estimate from them and faxes it to my adjuster and they didnt even bother to look at it.
Progressive are *******!!!! they tried to give me non HID headlights when i have HID!!!! my body shop had to fight for an OEM bumper...... take it to a higher power, or let your body shop deal with them they have their own way of talking.

You can with some companys get an OEM add on to your insurance for a small price extra. I have it and it was pretty cheap. You can get it for body as well as glass then you don't have to worry. I have Farmers insurance.

I called my insurance and filed a claim along with a police report but now the insurance refuses to pay for an Oem bumper ? The keep saying that any car from 2009 and under will get replaced with aftermarket certified parts?
This happened 11/16/2012 so we been going back and fourth about the oem bumper. Finally, they said will ficxmy car BUT NOT WITH A OEM BUMPER

Does anyone have any pictures of an aftermarket rear bumper installed? I have a $500 deductible so they know the first 500 come out of my pocket so basically they are trying to go cheap on me
You need to go find your policy. I'll bet it expressly states in the policy that they can do this. If so, you are SOL--you paid the premiums and agreed to the policy terms. However, if you a really want OEM, offer to pay the difference.

My wife was hit by a GEICO Holder and they tried real hard to stick to their policy on used and no-oem parts. What was initially appraised for 3200, we worked long and very hard to get all OEM, Hood, Lights, Bumper and internals to original Toyota specifications. Also, when you take your vehicle to a Certified Lexus Collision Center, they WILL battle for you and what was to take a month, took us two, however, after finally repair, the tab was 8100!!!!

Read the fine print on your policies. It's their choice to use these parts and in some states, you really cant do anything about unless they give you an option and fee to use OEM parts.

Yeah, I've been reading about how they don't do oem parts which is pretty lame. It looks like progressive uses oem parts, does anyone know anyone else?

all the insurance companies are alike, when is time to pay up they try to low ball you one way or the other. I accepted my aftermarket bumpers once and for all , I honestly got tired of dealing with them as soon my car is back from the shop I will trade it in
