Default Brake Wear Sensors?

Does the IS 250 have audible brake wear sensors? I can't find anything about them in the owner's manual.

I just did a search through some old Lexus threads and some people have said that it does- anybody know for sure?? (Not that I don't believe you, Jeff!)

There are Lexus models that do have wear sensors, the IS just isn't one of them.

Sensors? As in actual electrically-controlled sensors and not the metal tangs riveted onto the brake pads like on my Axxis pads?

My '06 IS350 doesn't have electronic wear sensors. I've changed front and rear, and can say that for sure. Yep! If you are referring to the metal tab that hangs off of the brakes, for the purpose of scraping the rotor just prior to the friction material being depleted (as Gville350 has referred to in the post above), I honestly don't remember but can take a look. I don't think so, but most do have them to be honest. Can you be more specific as to what type of wear sensor you are referring to?

I am referring to the ones that make the scraping noise when your pads are getting low- not some kind of electronic sensor or warning lights.

Does our brakes have any kind of indicator for brake wear?

I don't know about the IS250, but I believe the IS350 does... I mean I'm pretty sure I heard them, and I saw what appeared to pad wear indicators when I bought new pads (and looked at my old ones).

EDIT:
Unless by "sensors", you mean some kind of electrical sensor that gives you a notification on the dash or something. I'm just talking about audible wear indicators.

I was referring to electronic sensors, people don't usually refer to the indicators on the pads as sensors. My apologies.

Jeff

I'm confirming that yes, one OEM brake pad out of a set of two for each wheel will have a metal tang. I kept the OEM rear rotors and OEM rear pads from my recent upgrade to PowerSlot slotted rotors and Axxis Ultimate pads, and just checked to confirm this. I would only assume that the fronts would be the same.

I wonder why only one tang per set, knowing that pads can wear unevenly from one side of the caliper to the other? Oh well, my Axxis pads have one on each pad.

don't mean to thread jack, but since we are on this subject

my brakes have been making a horrible screeching noise upon start up or initial braking, and then it goes away. I have always assume it was just scraping off the outer oxidation layers that causes this screeching, but could it be my wear indicator?

If it were the wear indicator, would it continue to make this noise every time i apply the brakes, or just the first couple initial times i apply the brakes?
