Default Guam cars aren't US vehicles???

Since I have a 08 IS350 that had the valve springs recall done on the car. I am looking into why I haven't been offered the extended powertrain warranty that's been offered too all Lexus's owners. So I emailed HQ and they said that my car isn't a US vehicle?!? Being a U.S. territory, shouldn't it be considered a U.S. vehicle? I'm pretty sure warranties aren't given out by dealerships so it should be coming from HQ, right?

It's the same situation as Hawaii residents. I forgot why, but it has to do with the region. Someone had an explanation for it in another thread, but I don't remember that thread.

So I got a response back. They told me since Guam uses a different distributor from the U.S., its not considered a U.S. car. Still doesn't explain why I don't have an extended warranty on it for the recall. I'm looking into this now because the passenger side valves are ticking a little louder than normal and I want to make sure it isn't related to the recall.

TMC manufactures the cars in Japan and sells them to various distributors, these distributors handle things like customer care and warranty (often forwarding costs back to Japan). If Lexus USA offers something to customers, it doesn't necessarily mean another distributor will follow suit. Just because Lexus in Guam sells a USA-spec car, doesn't mean they will offer the same things to customers.

It's similar to the difference between Canada and USA.

I own a 2009 IS 350 that we purchased in Guam and now we are in Arizona and are having trouble getting the cars service records and HQ also said that the car does not have a US warranty. Could you please post if you we're able to get any additional information on this issue.

I also have a 2009 IS 350 that was purchased in Guam and now we are in San Diego. I called the dealer here to ask if there would be any problems servicing and checking the recall information that needs to be done to our vehicle and she gladly helped. I told her that my car was coming from Guam and she said they will have to contact Lexus Guam for any maintenance/recall work that has been done to it. If they can't get it, they already established my new account with them and will have to start over with the maintenance record. She scheduled me for an appointment but I have a lot of questions that I will ask when I'm actually at the dealership. Our car is still under factory warranty and I am planning on getting the extended warranty as well. I'm hoping they won't give me any problems but I'll keep you guys posted. Please keep us updated as well if you acquire any useful information. There aren't very much IS owners I know from Guam that are stateside.
