Default Instrument cluster question

So I got my 08 IS350 this week and so far its pretty great! I'm loving it-

But I have 2 questions I cant seem to figure out:

1. Is there no digital speed display? The analog speedometer is kind of hard for me to read because its so small... I would be surprised if I can't read my speed on the digital readout but I haven't been able to do it. Is there a trick or does it just not do it?

2. Isn't there a 'night' setting if you leave the maps up on the nav? I was driving around tonight with the map displayed on the nav and it was bright enough to kind of bug me - Sure I could scroll to another screen but I thought there was a 'night' setting where it wouldn't be so bright, but I couldn't find that either. Or is my map just outdated ...?
*edit* I found out on the lexus.com 'how to' video that if your instrument cluster brightness is turned all the way up the nav won't go into 'night mode' ... so apparently all I have to do is turn down the brightness a little bit and it should work.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

There is no digital speed display. As you saw in the video, the is a click-detent at maximum instrument brightness that locks the screen in day mode. Lower it past the click, and your screen will automatically go to night mode when it gets dark.

^ said is all true. Especially about the click where it locks the navigation to day mode, just turn that **** counterclockwise past the little lock and it will automatically switch between night and day if your headlights are set to auto.

Thanks -

I tried it today and got it to work ...

Thats too bad about the lack of digital display... I was hoping someone would say "Oh yeah all you have to do is such and such. Oh well - so I finally found one *minor* thing that I dont love.

Thanks for the responses.
