Default HID kit on IS250

Hi I am a newbie to this forum but have been a proud Lexus owner for about a year...anyways i'm having a bit of an issue with my 2008 IS250, I've read that it's the ballast thats gone bad, when driving at night my drivers side headlight goes out i then have to turn the lights off an back on to get it to work. I have the stock OEM HIDS installed is it possible for me to buy an aftermarket HID Kit and just replace the old OEM ones.

best way to find out is to swap bulbs and see if it still does that with the same headlight. then you will know its the ballast or if its the bulbs.

As above, check the bulb first.

That was my question before and I was told that it's OK to replace your OEM with 6000k aftermarket HID. It will not affect the AFS system.

First off, make sure if its the bulb, ballast, or both thats causing the issue.

Since you already have stock HIDs, the bulb size that you will need is D4S.

I would recommend buying D4S Phillips bulbs. They are a bit expensive, but worth it IMO. One of our vendors, Xenondepot, sells the phillips and other D4S replacement bulbs. I would recommend buying from them

I bought the Morimoto 5000k D4S bulbs to replace the old Philips ones and I didn't like them.
There were not bright enough and the color was too blue for 5000k.
I ended up buying Toshiba Harison D4S bulbs, as used by Lexus.
They are much brighter than the Morimotos I had.

Check bulbs by swapping as stated.

If not, you can always get a aftermarket HID kit from sources such as xenondepot.com( steve ) and so forth. The 6500K Kit they have is what i recommend as it looks ice white, very nice. I have them installed on my headlights and fog lights and match to the tea.

The Philips kit is not in my budget margin I'm only a student in college and cannot afford to buy HIDS for around $250 looking for something up to $100 that's why I looked at the morimoto ones people also seem to give them nice reviews. But help will be appreciated.

These are legit, as used by Lexus/Toyota and do not cost $250:

Did you swap bulbs and isolate the issue? Dont buy bulbs and ballasts if you dont need them both
