Default xm radio question

I heard xm radio will be free for 2 weeks starting Wednesday. I have an 07 IS350, what will i need to do to get it. If I push the (satellite) button nothing happens. Do i need an adapter or will i be able to just sign up for xm and it will work?

You need the (discontinued) receiver. Tuner Assy: 86180-0W030 & Mounting kit: 86100-0W220

You don't have it. It's located in your trunk. A DIY install guide will have diagrams to show you where it's installed

The satellite radio sounds crappy (kinda like AM radio without the static), why would anyone want it?

I love my satellite radio. I've always had great sound quality. Since I bought my car after the receiver was discontinued I used the Sirius Kits- it works great

hm, unless different country is different or you're not that sensitive to sound. The loaner cars I got always have satellite, and it always sound low quality -- pretty much just like how this video compares.

They were Lexus loaner cars. One of them is 2011 ES 350, others were 2012 ES and RX; they all sound the same. I thought the sound quality issue is well known, until I saw someone mention it's great sound quality. This guy in the video pretty much describes how the sound is like and how you can get the same low quality sound from compressing the hell out of the music on your computer.

But if you can't hear the difference, I guess it wouldn't matter to you and the selection might be worth it .
