I don't know of any car which has reflectors in the headlights for reasaons of "just because"....

I don't see a purpose for reflectors in the headlights either...

Maybe it was required to be added in order to meet DOT requirements?

No idea what DOT is. That a US standard/requirement?

So I am assuming all cars have this and that I am not going crazy thinking that it has no actual function in terms of being a light and it is just for reflector/decorative purposes.

Its been bugging me for too long!

^ It's removable, but don't know how they look like without it. Never thought of just removing.

So its not just me it drives mad then!

Just so I know, do you need to remove the WHOLE headlight assembly, stick it in the over/heatgun open it up etc or can you remove a few bits (as per installing a HID kit) and then just "pull it out" somehow?

Depending on how much of a chore it is to do, I may just leave it alone.

I'm not sure what standard it is but it's required in the USA. It's like the rear reflectors We have in the lower portion of our bumper. If our lights don't work the reflectors will shine from the oncoming headlights.

Every car sold in North America has orange front reflectors and red rear reflectors. They can't sell cars without them.

Oh, ok. Never heard of it. Guess we would have a similar body here in the UK....

Only thing I know from US TV is the DMV.

I would assume that it is standard as I am in the UK.

I understand about the rear ones as that makes sense as they are red etc. But orange is used as indicators, so I have no idea why they used orange as a front reflector. Well I guess it is more on the side of the car despite being part of the headlight so maybe that is why.

Did not know that. Maybe it is a US and asia requirement (or a requirement from their largest market) and it was just easier to put them into all headlight assemblies?

I have never knowingly seen this before on any other brand.

I think overall, they will probably just stay there for now. Maybe one day and I mean MAYBE, I will attempt to either relocate the indicators to that space or use it for some other interesting lighting feature.

Just glad that I no longer think that it is a light and expect it to do anything more than just look orange.

Thanks guys
