Dash cam upgrade
So I am a security nut, I currently have a dash cam for insurance fraud or just simple accident related issues. That camera records at a nice HD quality and I love it, but it only stays on while I am driving.
What I wanted to see is if anyone has some ideas or experience running a in car camera 24/7. I might be a nut for wanting to do this, but my car seems to attract lots of haters lol
Thoughts on how I might get this done?

a few things on my mind:
1. battery. video recording can drain a lot of power so you need to know how to provide it with secondary power source. using car battery is strongly discouraged.
2. since people can see the video recorder, I am not sure if it will attract theives to steal the camera, sometimes just for despise.
3. I am not sure it can do much if you recorded someone scratched your car. unless u have license plate, I doubt police will go out and looking for peanuts stuff.

The blackvue seems cool, the only issues I have with it is that it has no in car screen, long boot time and also the sound quality sucks.
The camera below is a slightly upgraded version of my own for about 70 bucks that also has motion detection, without the GPS tracking/Speed (this is a good thing IMO I never want my speed recorded )
I have shopped with them before and they are great, I will give them a chance before spending 5 times the amount

I do now lol, I have not messed with the motion detection at this point but the video is great, I will try and post a clip later this week when I get some time.
It comes with a suction cup that is very stable in the car and you don't get any camera shake at all. It turns on within 10 seconds instead of the 45+ seconds the $300 cam that everyone uses. It has no GPS like I said in my last post, but that's a great thing in my mind. I don't really see many situations where I would like to have a cop know how fast I was going before an accident.
Anyhow its FAR cheaper and provides quite a bit more for the money. You can also change all your settings in the car, and also check the positioning etc because it has the screen.
Dont forget it also has a 3 hour battery!

They cost about 300, without a group buy, some are listed at the following site. Keep in mind that site lists that its the Korean firmware so beware. I know you can update the firmware but I am unsure if you can just download it from the makers site.
