Talking Want to lease a new IS 250/350 and need some help

Hey guys,

New member here and coming from Toyota Nation.

I'm planning to lease a new 2013 Lexus IS, depending on the deal that I can get, I'm hoping to get the '13 IS 350 F-sport.

Is there a big difference between the 250 and 350? I am coming from a fully loaded '11 Camry SE V6.

Also, is there anything I should watch out for? Any problems with the current gen IS? I read some carbon build up and water pump failing early.. the water pump failing early is pretty common in the Camry world as well.

And lastly, do you guys have any ideas on what kind of lease payments am I looking at for the '13 IS 350 (3yr / 36k miles lease)? I don't want to get ripped off and it would be great to get advice first before going in.

You'll be much happier with a IS350 coming out of a V6.

No problem with the '13 IS other than a new generation coming out in Sept/Oct.

Can't help you on lease numbers but they should be pretty good considering a new IS is coming out and dealer and Lexus want to get rid of inventory.

There is no carbon buildup in an IS350, and would be pretty rare if it happened in a brand new IS250. The buildup is more common in higher mileage cars, and especially with only a 36k mile lease, I don't think you'll be experiencing those issues.

The only significant difference between the IS250 and IS350 is the engine (although, to some, that's a pretty significant difference).

I would suggest getting the IS350, as you're coming from a V6 Camry. The IS250 will feel a bit slower than the Camry, although, obviously, you should test drive both and see which you like.

Good luck and welcome to CL!

Default pricing on is250 awd

I can only help with pricing on these cars since i have leased 2 awd fully loaded cars in the last 5 years.

My payment was 480 and now 477 and let me clarify that I had no everything included into my payment. Bank fees, taxes, transfer of plates or new plates shouldnt be much of a difference. I left with just making my first payment.

Here in NY we get the best deals from a leasing company. They essentially pick up the car from the dealer for you but they do they paperwork and usually give a better deal because they are ok with making $300 profit on a car that they virtually didnt need to stock and made money just by filling out the contract.

I would see if you have companies like that around you.

350 should be about $100 more and f-sport probably about $150 more if I had to guess. But since you do not need AWD you might have better payments.

The BIG deference between the two is 100HP more in the 350. It also has 4 piston brakes compared to the 250's 2 piston brakes. Good luck wit your purchase.

Thanks for the warm welcome and for helping me out guys.

I went to the dealer last Saturday and they were going to give me a 2013 IS350 F-Sport for $560/mo. with 0 down on a 36-mo. lease. I thought that was a pretty good deal and I haven't even started negotiating yet, I'm sure they will go down more. But my current Camry lease destroyed that deal, cause I still have quite a bit of payments left on it.

The deal with my Camry trade in comes down to $680/mo. plus $4500 down for a 48-mo. lease. Who in their right mind is going to go for that?! I might as well get a new IS250 and keep the Camry and my monthly will still be cheaper than that! So I told them that I'm just going to wait it out and finish the lease first.

I did test drive the 2010 IS350C though, cause they didn't have any IS350's in stock, it is a very nice car.

Well it looks like I'll have to wait till next year and most likely go for the 3rd gen IS350 F-Sport, it's just so damn sexy!

Since you said trade in, are you breaking the lease on the Camry or are you making monthly payments on the car? Anyways, that sounds like a lot and not worth it.

Like many have said I would test drive both the 250 and 350 and choose which one suits you best. Second if you're going to lease I would not put any money down or trade in the camry if hou straight out own it as it will just be money you loose when you turn the car back in.

Yea, I still got quite a bit of months left on the lease. Just wanted to see if they can take over the lease and get me in a new car. I've done that a few times before too.

But this one is just too much and not worth it, but it never hurt to try.

Yea, I test drove the IS350C and liked the power. And that's the new plan, to finish the lease on the Camry, then just get the Lexus without any down. I never put any down on my leases, cause that's the same thing as paying in advance.

put your camry lease up on leasetrader.com or swapalease.com and see if there's anyone willing to take on your lease. there are fees associated w/ using those website services, and toyota financial services will charge a $200 lease transfer fee, but at least when all's said and done you can offload your lease to someone else (who will obviously have to qualify w/ toyota financial services for them to take over the lease).

Thanks! Yea I already thought about that and checked out swapalease.com, but I've decided to wait it out cause now the more I look at the 3IS the more I like it better than the current gen. So I'm just gonna wait until the new one comes out.

If you even remotely care about speed and acceleration, take the 350, no compromise.
