I agree that the $30 ones and the 2 for $55 shipped are obviously fakes, problem for me is the intermediate priced ones- the $80-100 for a pair look really similar to the real in the picture and not much like the fakes from what I can tell, any one have any success or issue with these?

Unless your paying ~$200 for the pair, theyre most likely fake.

Your best bet is to buy them from our vendors, that way you know your getting the legit product

rookie350: They've gotten so go at making fakes look like originals that unless you really know what to look for chances are you will never be able to tell the difference.

Steve, looking at your less expensive non-philips D4S bulbs, is there a 6000 that you are out of stock in or are they only available in the 6500? (Looking for white not blue) Thanks

Hi,

If you're looking for pure white I would suggest looking at the D4S 5000k bulbs as 6000k will have some blue to it.

Is the Ultinon an upgrade from OEM? They have the same lumens output.

According to Philips, the D4S 42402WX 6000k Ultinon bulbs produce approximately 2400-2500 lumens, which is roughly 20% less then stock.

I personally am a fan of the XenonDepot 5000k D4S HID bulbs, as they provide you with crisper color output then stock, and, you pretty well maintain similar light output. You also can't go wrong with the price - Save $20/bulb by using coupon code CLGB08 upon checkout - for a limited time

I was looking at the Ultinon 5000k and wondering why people are praising the product line so much when output is similar to OEM. Is there something else I'm missing?

Wierd - Ultinon is a marketing name that Philips typically uses to market their 6000k line.

You're not really missing much....

CLGB08 will only work on XenonDepot D4S HID bulbs.

Default Replace d4s with d2s

Hello,
I am interested in this conversion too as I also like higher lumens and better color. Is it simple to do? I have a 2006 SC430 that I would like to convert. Is this possible on a SC? Can you please post DIY or just some helpful tips.

Thanks.

HI,
It would be a simple bulb replacement. The SC uses a D4S HID bulb meaning that you would simply need to order a replacement D4S HID bulb.

Thanks Steve. I actually am interested in converting the D4S to D2S so that I can go with an OSRAM 5500K D2S bulbs rated at 3200 lumens. This way I can get the color output and the lumens

I am using Philips Ultinon 6000K D4S bulbs at present. I love the color but desire higher lumens!

Thus, coming back to my question: Is the conversion simple. So far I have gathered that I need Denso slim D2S ballasts and the OSRAM bulbs. However, I have more questions:

Does the ballast fit where the existing one is? Do I need to splice the wires to use the D2S ballast? Finally, does the D2S bulb work in the D4S housing? This could be a deal killer if I cannot use the new bulb in the old housing?

Please help.

A D4S bulb is the Mercury free version of the D2S bulb. They physically have the same shape/size, therefore you can plug them into the same housing.

Have you thought about simply getting a 5000K D4S bulb to make the process easier?

Danny
