IIRC 15* left; 5* right; no movement at low speed (10-15 mph). I thought they did away with AFS in later models--I had a '12 loaner with HID, but no AFS.
I explained the AFS functionality in a previous post.
AFS was on 2006-10 models. It was discontinued for 2011.
The reason for why the AFS sweeps to the right less than the left is probably just because of the driver's position relative to the beam pattern.. When you're turning right, you already have the right headlight lighting up what's in the driver's view, so it doesn't need to rotate as much. When turning left, you have less assistance from the right side headlight, so the left side sweeps more to compensate.

Correct. RHD models have the angles opposite to LHD models.
Thanks! I didn't even consider the driver's positioning. Wonder if they discontinued it because of warranty/cost issues or possibly because it can be a bit distracting while driving.

There isn't enough room in the headlight with the newly-added LED strip and the AFS motor. AFS is still offered in many other Lexus models.
I wouldn't mind not having the AFS if Lexus used that $$ on better projectors. Every time I sit in someones 3rd gen Acura TL i'm still amazed at how much better the projectors are then on our cars.

Most Lexus projectors are quite good, the issue with the IS is that they designed the headlights too shallow, forcing them to use a side-mount bulb that reflects the light upward towards the lens. A rear-mount bulb fixes a lot of the focal issues with the IS, but fitting one in there almost always requires cutting the rear of the headlight housing out.
Easy to way to check in the garage. When you start your car headlights will move up and down for brief period to auto adjust. I can tell every time I start my car.

That's the auto-leveling. AFS is side to side, not up and down.
Are your headlights by chance a little hazed over or foggy? When I first got my car mine were starting to haze and I never noticed them move. After I restored them you can see them move clear as day. It kind of surprised me when I saw them move first after the resto.

yeah that does make perfect sense. i wondered the same thing for awhile after owning the IS, that it sweeps alot more to the left than the right. makes sense though..
i can say that for me to even notice the sweep i have to be in a significantly dark area, like almost no street lights
