Anyone regret buying IS x50
Good morning CL,
After talking with a few friends about their vehicles performance over the years and reliability. The question was approached to me by my cousin...Do I regret buying the Lexus IS 350. I paused for only a few seconds and my answer was at the time a sure NO! Its treated me well, both of them, and I haven't had any issues I didn't expect I would at this time with how old they are. THEN, a few days later my NAV touch screen stopped working. Did what everyone else did, checked with Lexus stealership and priced $2000. And resulted with a loud NO! Why pay $2,000 when the same issue will most likely happen again in 5 more years. So we will try the DIY other members posted. I still say I don't regret the purchase...but I might have felt different if the DIY NAV fix didn't only cost $50.
Sooo it left me thinking? How do my fellow CL member feel about this? Do you regret buying/leasing the 2nd Gen IS? If so why? And what model do you have 250/350/awd etc.
Thanks in advance! P.S - Doing the NAV fix this weekend with the crew at our shop. After Daytona BIKE WEEK of course!

Its a great car overall and pretty happy with it, but has its pros/cons compared to some previous rides.
My prior DD was a 08 Infinit FX35. Believe it or not, i felt the FX35 had much more of a fun factor while driving than the is250 (maybe my thoughts would be different if i had a 350). However the Lexus is much better on gas which is why i switched. The 250's engine ticking noises are pretty annoying, and i do miss the infiniti's exhaust note.
Now comparing the IS250 against other Lexuses I have ('10 RX350 and '97 LX450), the build quality is lacking. The is250 interior is filled with rattles and squeaks whereas the RX and 15 year old LX450 are insanely quiet. This is probably my biggest 'con' with the IS, other than that it has met expectations.

I feel the same as pmanliu... The engine ticking makes the IS sound like an old junker, especially when i'm going through drive throughs. The rattling is also a daily struggle for me. My bmw z4 and z3 had minor rattling problems but the standard exhaust system really prevented me from hearing it. Not to mention that I'd drive with the top down most of the time so that was a non issue.
My biggest regret is not waiting for the 2010 IS. There are a lot of features that came out that year that I'm now spending money to replicate.

I love my 09 is250 but after taking it in for service and getting a 2011 is350 fsport for a loaner I really wish I would have held out for a 350. The is250 feels so slow compared to the 350. dont get me wrong I love my car reguardless but the power is lacking. The engine ticking noise is pretty annoying as well

No regrets at all coming from an IS250 owner...carbon build-up has been disturbing. But car has been good to me so far... **knocks on wood**
No rattles for me ... just a smooth and quiet ride. Engine ticking noise is the direct injection working... it's normal. I don't hear it inside my car so I don't get bothered by it.
Next car already planned... IS350

I love my car more than any item in my life. Only complaints are the ticking noise and the creaks.... Its so funny, I never noticed them until recently when I had the volume low - now I almost want to to hear them just to hear if they're still there. Otherwise, perfect car.
