If you remove your surge tank and lower intake manifold, make sure you get new intake manifold gaskets, and new rubber seals for the surge tank. Also, watch out for the cap head bolts on the intake surge tank; one of mine was really on there good and I stripped the head taking it off. I bought a new one, which was about $12 CAD or something.

Just finished doing a carbon cleaning and installing a catch can but now I'm seeing really high fuel trims and my system is running lean.

Has anybody experienced this before? One of my thoughts is that maybe it's because the hose that came with the catch can was pretty flimsy but I don't see any noticeable vacuum leaks. I'm going to bypass the catch can tomorrow and see if that fixes it.

Update: it was in fact the vent on the top of the can, I replaced it with the block off Allen bolt but I had to also upgrade the hose because the one it came with collapsed under any vacuum.

Vehicle specific: 05-23 Tacoma / VTE Competition kit / Universal Single OR Dual Catch Can kit?
