Default Clear bra vs repainting later

So I drive a ton for work (over 3000mi/month sometimes) and obviously get a ton of road rash/paint chips on the front end. Since I already have so much damage (regrettably), would it be worth getting a clear bra now? Would it even go on correctly with the existing chips?

OR... just repaint it when I want to sell the car (not anytime soon)

Any thoughts appreciated ^_^

Clear bra would do nothing but prevent FUTURE damage cuz all the chips n scrapes u got now will just be sealed in more with the bra

I have thought about this for a very long time when I first got the car. My final decision was to just touch up the rockchips when it happens. Clear bra is not bullet proof and can tear. Since I wax my car after wash every time, I am concerned about leaving a line at the end. Most of the time you can not see the rockchips from a distance anyway and touch-up paint will prevent any rust from happen.

So, it is probaby best to have it repainted when it becomes absolutely necessary. I dont need it at this point of time and probably will never need it since touch up paint is good enough for me already.

I have never seen film tear, maybe the cheap stuff. I've had 3M on several cars and have yet to see it tear. I once did have a film "nick" on my 2000 IS300 from a golf ball size rock, but it would have been much worse without the film.

You could always repaint it and then clear bra it.

Don't clear bra over the current rock chips. Would be a waste of money imo.
The right way would be to paint and then clear bra for best looks.

Repaint then clear bra. Like stated before good brand of PPF like XPel and most of 3M's stuff will not tear. It was originally designed to protect military grade helicopter blades (Learned this in 3M's training program) so automotive applications are a breeze.

One thing that is nice is if you decide to just touchup the current chips then clear bra it, the film will hide any surface imperfections such as micro-marring in the paint.

I had a fairly complicated scenario. I purchased my IS350 CPO, dealer re-sprayed the front bumper. I was able to negotiate a free clear bra. I was never too happy with the color match, knowing i probably would never find someone who can 100% match Glacier Frost Mica, i found someone on the forum who had sold me a Glacier Frost Mica bumper which had never been re-sprayed with minor rock chips. I covered the minor rock chips w/ touch up paint, plugged the License plate holes, and got it clear bra'd with Xpel ultimate. I'm happy w/ the results, and i don't see it as a waste of money. And a good Clear bra will NOT tear.

repaint and clear bra.
one of best mod/investment I did to my car.
had it for over 3 years, still not a single rock chip (or tear on the film)

I don't see a point putting on a clear bra on a bumper already damaged.

I didn't get a clear-bra and which I had, that said, I would NOT apply one if I already have several chips (which I do) At some point I'll get the hood repainted and clear bra applied.

clear bra is nice, but all film will degrade specially in direct light. when who knows , but when removing that stuff when it discolors is a PAIN IN THE ***!!!!! and also the cost it is not cheap to clear bra the entire hood fenders and front bumper it prolly would equal to a pain job, its not really the material cost its the labor people are charging for this , either way its not a long term investment , just stay away from truck drivers on the road they kick up the most rocks

if i can go back when i first purchase my car, i would of wrap it, only because in my situation i have a SFP color and its difficult to match with out blending. I recently had my trunk repainted and the color is slightly off and i had it repainted 3 time and they couldnt match it perfectly. The only way to make it look like it matches is to blend it with the quarter panel.

Will clear bra turn yellow over time? My factory Lexus clear bra turn yellow after only two year, I bought my car brand new. (ones on the front of the rear wheels, if you don't notice)
