I agree with you 100%. Keep in mind that i will be entering a profession that is in high demand and pays just below six figures as entry level. Now, I am not trying to be that person that argues all the negatives and only accepts the positives, but i have thought this through. I will be paying cash, and it will not affect my funds necessarily, rather what I like to call "family borrowing" aka parents.
Even so, lets say I am desperate in the next 2 years. I have spent 12,500 on a car that in my opinion will not lose alot of retail value in 2 yrs, considering I probably wont even put on 20,000 miles (which would total at roughly 115,000 total miles when i want to sell it). These cars are market value of 16-17,000 right now @ 90,000 miles. Considering the carfax report and extra mileage put on in 2 years, I would like to think I could get at least 10,000 in a private deal in 2 years.. again, if desparate. That would mean I lost value of ~2,500 in 2 years. Big deal. I will lose that on a 2000 toyota camry with 140,000 that I bought for $6,000 anyways. See where I am getting at? Considering the price I am getting this at I may be able to come out at par in 2 years anyways if I can sell it to the right person.
Call me crazy, but I would rather drive a nice car that sounds more reliable than an older vehicle and lose the same value in a couple years.
I definitely do not want a freakin honda. ya the engines are good, but the bodies feel like they are built with cardboard.
