Help! P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire
I have the check engine light on as well as the VSC light on.
Anyone else had this issue?
The car isn't idling smooth. Also the rpms drop to 500 when the compressor fan turns on and then when it turns off, it goes back to 600 rpms.
Any suggestions???
07 IS 350. 126 000 miles.
NEW EDIT:
Got my car back from the Dealership and immediately the car put P0303 CEL again.
Dealer says, low engine compression and the car needs a new engine?????

First, check your gas cap. Second, have you ever changed the plugs? Third, swap the #3 coil pack around to another cylinder and see if the fault code follows the coil pack or stays at cylinder #3.

I did change the plugs last summer. But ever since that, my idle wasn't as smooth as before.

^OP says he has a 350...not likely to be a carbon build-up problem.
Exactly what spark plugs did you have installed? The deal with the gas cap is that over time they will lose their ability to seal. Plus the fact that every time I torqued it down it felt like it was about to break. Recently I changed out my OE cap for a Stant unit from Walmart...$6. Worth a shot!

Hi Guys,
The dealer did the plugs change.
The dealer has my car right now. Told them to change the gas cap, and they would do a courtesy check on the car to see where the problem might be coming from. They are also going to check if all the TSBs were done on the car.
2 days before handing the car out to them, I reset the codes and no CEL showed up within the 2 days. I did this just to make sure they weren't going to force me into making an expensive and a desperate decision.

Um, a loose gas cap doesnt cause misfires... The rest of what you said is correct

Ok, would be curious how they figured that. If you want to check the compression in each cylinder, get yourself a simple compression tester. Got mine for $20 at Harbor Freight. Remove spark plug, insert tester, remove ECU fuse, crank over the car 7-8 revolutions, stop. Check the gauge for reading and write it down. Continue for each cylinder. All cylinders should be within 5% of each other, if not you indeed have a compression issue.
If you need a new motor, check ebay. There was a 350 motor on there just last week for $400 in TN I think.

Thanks for the reply. I am honestly not sure how they did the test. I'm going to pick up my car tomorrow.
I jus can't believe it! This is the first CEL I had with the car ....and BAM dealer asks me to get a new motor.
At first, they were like nothing's wrong with the car and now (after keeping the car for 5 days) they're like ohh yea your motor is toast.
