Default Fun with Steelie - iPhone 5 & Garmin

If anyone is looking for a quick way to mount a cell phone, GPS, or other device, here is what I've got going on in my 2011 IS250 F-Sport.

I have an iPhone 5, what did you do there?

First I ran an iPhone 5 lightning cable from my armrest console, under the shifter console, and through a hole I drilled in the bottom of the ash tray area (I took the actual ash tray out). Then I mounted a Steelie ball http://www.niteize.com/collection/steelie.asp under the disc door. You can install the Steelie ball anywhere you'd like, I just like it low and close to power. Hope this helps.

How does it do on bumps? Is it strong enough to keep the phone from shaking / orientation moving?

I'm currently using a mountek holder that goes into the CD slot. This looks pretty neat though

I find the mount to be very steady. Of course the Lexus does drive fairly smoothly. I haven't had any problems with the phone or even the heavier GPS moving around. It is interesting that I was also using the Mountek mount before I went with the Steelie mount. I just prefer the look of the Steelie.

This is an old thread but I just picked one up. Going to install it right under the CD door as well. Almost the same setup but my iPod aux to head unit connect comes through the hole.

I can't seem to see your picture but I'm pretty sure it looks good!
