Hey all,
I am venturing away from my old 1996 ES300, and going to be buying a 2007 IS250 this weekend. Before I go look at the car, can I get some advice on things to know about the IS250? I only have experience with the older Toyota/Lexus models so this is all new to me with the newer cars. Mainly is there anything in particular to look for, ask, or listen for with the motor, tranny, or anything else with these cars? What is a good price for one with 71k miles. The one I am looking at is not AWD. Thank you in advance. I do appreciate my fellow Lexus Lovers!!

Here is a link for the car. They are asking 18,900. Of course I will be talking them down. Thank you for your reply!

Can't speak to the value on that particular car, but we bought a used IS250c and to me its a flawless piece of engineering. Only issue we have had is battery went TU, but living in AZ car batteries have a hard time with the heat.
I've read on this forum that the water pump is the most likely issue you'll face, other than that, do the oil changes and other maintenance and you'll be golden. Tires don't seem to last much more than 25k, but that's because they are a soft quiet compound. Probably go to Tire Rack and get some harder longer lasting brand than the stock Bridgestone Potenza's mine came with, if tire life is important to you.
Seats are some of the best out there, ours has cooling as well as heat a huge plus in AZ.
It does run on premium, but at around 30mpg, takes the sting out of the extra $$ per gallon.
Unless someone tries to race me, I get about 30mpg running around overall, but Scottsdale area is fairly flat. If I put my foot in it, I can get it down to below around 20-25mpg.
Its smooth quiet, doesn't go round corners on rails like my BMW did, but its not that type of car.
Get a PPI and go for it.

Thank you everyone. This is good stuff. Tell me more about this cam gear TSB repair? What was wrong with the cam gear? I actually tracked down the Lexus dealer that the car was originally sold and serviced at for the first 65,000 miles of its life. The place I am buying it from is going to find out what repairs were done etc. Is there any other TSB's I need to know about, and if they have not been fixed yet, can they still be fixed under the recall?

I just bought my 07 is250 2 months ago... I've owned 27 vehicles in the last 7yrs and by far this is the best I've ever owned. I'm a Honda guy and a friend talked me into the switch, wasn't hard as I have a 12' fJ cruiser and my dad has an 08 pre-runner Toyota. I paid 17,9 with tt&L which I didn't think was bad as nada had it for around 19k with 85k miles. I've already got a set of 20" TSW nagaros and I'm waitin on my eibach pro kit to come in. I absolutely love the Lexus and this forum has helped me so much with a lot of my questions. I'm in New Orleans and there's not many custom is250's around here. You won't be disappointed...
