I would push to get it totaled. I would rather want it total so you can get the money and buy a brand new car instead of driving around in a fixed up one.
Glad you are okay. I agree. Go for total and get a brand new ride. This one will never be the same as "new." Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Glad to hear you're ok too. I think they'll fix this. Don't think the repair amount will add up to totalling this. Keep us posted of the outcome.

Don't automatically assume that since the OP rear ended someone that they are at fault. If the driver of the front car stopped erratically without proving it was necessary, they can determine they are at fault or take a percentage of blame.

It's going to be tough for the OP.Rearenders are tough.Almost impossible not to be at fault in this case.
You must have complete control of your vehicle at all times.
I hope it works out for him, though.

This is why you don't text and drive. Luckily for the OP the car that hit him after the initial accident will be at fault.

Am I looking at the same pictures? or does this not seem like a "bad" accident. Looks like the OP hit a suv or truck since the point of impact looks to be the grill and not the bumper. Doesn't look totaled at all from the pictures.

Oh lordy! You let go of the ol' 350? I never even met her. Or this one, for that matter.
Glad to see you're okay though. Best wishes in everything getting settled in your favor.

Not necessarily, I believe that may only be true if the 3rd car is what causes the middle car to hit the car in front. In this case, it looks like OP rear ended a car first and then in turn was rear ended himself.... Which means OP and the 3rd car will probably share the fault, unless it can be proved that the car in front braked unnecessarily. Even then though i'm sure the responsibility would be shared among all the drivers somehow. You never know though, I guess the insurance companies will have to figure it out in this case!

Thanks again guys! I am at fault for the car in front of me, and the front of my car. Even though the lady in the 2013 Volkswagen Passat in front of me said she had to brake because the cars in front of here did too. I still hit her. So I am responsible. There aren't any witnesses, so I'm going off of her word. The lady behind me will pay for the rear damages. The guy at the body shop said, $15,000 just by glancing at it. Monday (tomorrow) my AllState adjuster is going to look at the car and perform a, "tear down." I'm sure they'll find more then. Also in Texas I found I can ask for, "diminished value". So I should be entitled to several thousand from that. Meaning they might as well and total my vehicle. The lady in front of me has $2,000 in repairs to rear bumper and such.

Damn that's a bad accident, atleast you're okay. If you end up parting anything out, can I get dibs on the tail lights ?
