Default Paddle Shifter question

So i was going to have a little fun with my 2IS and use my paddle shifters. The left (-) downshift one doesn't work but my right (+) up shift one does? Has anyone had this happen before.

So if you're cruising down the HWY at 50 in 6th gear and put the trans into "S" mode, you downshift paddle shift doesn't work at all?

Does your car make a beep sound when it does work? If so then your rpm is too high and it won't let you shift.

Of course it doesn't downshift because those pedals are a joke, They limit the amount of gears the car can use. So if you're going 40mph and and you downshift from 6 to 5, your car won;t downshift since was using the forth gear currently but you should see your gears changing from 6 to 5 on your dash.
Bottom line don;t try to have fun with the pedals , they're not there for fun but for marketing purposes only.

Yeah i was trying to downshift cause i was going up a hill going 55mph and wanted to shift down to 5th from 6th and my paddle shifters on the wheel didn't work but the shifter itself would shift down. I haven't done any mods or messed around with the steering column. So not sure what is going on.

Nope, no beeping sound indicating to high of RPM.

So when you tried to use the paddle shifters, you were in the "Sport" mode...correct? The same mode you use to "shift" + or - using the stick.

It's obvious that your peddle shifters doesn;t work than, You should be able to change the top gear from any mode.

Pedals should work in D-mode as well not only in S-mode.

MIne does, I have a 2010, I assume they all work as it's the same transmission and engine for the last 8 years.
The idea is that S-mode is useless. It's only there to shift from the **** and to get people confused that stands for Sport

I think you're right. My 08 doesn't allow me to use paddles unless in S mode

I used them to downshift to slow down on traffic or a red light.
