That's it bro, we never want to be in that situation. The main thing to take away from my point is really that the reality is no matter what a salesperson says, the airbag deployment is never going to be the exact same timing as what it was original designed to be which is what that Honda video demonstrates. I know manufacturers including Lexus are now doing leather airbags, but they are designing the airbag explosive to match the spec of the material it needs to break through and they do all the testing regarding the timing. I've seens lots of videos from airbag sellers showing the airbag covered in leather deploying fine. I remember when I showed this to an industry expert when I was doing my research and I said to him "look it deploys". He laughed in my face and said "ignorance is bliss" lol. That's when he explained this entire thing about timing to me and sent me off to do some homework. Yes it will open up and nothing can prevent that huge explosion from ripping the leather open. And in fact what he said was that's why timing is important because if your face reaches the airbag before it fully has deployed then essentially the face will take a huge smash.

So I think it's just about weighing up the pros and cons. But honestly people just need to be a bit more aware and know that they are essentially having to make a safety compromise however small it may be.

any possibility stop the thread hijacking and open your own thread discussing the airbag topic.

I will be glad to chime in on the airbag mod once there is one,on the meantime...

at the Lexus dealer getting panels checked just in case.

When I walked in I thought I was in a high class hotel, did a loop around to check if they had a swimming pool, 😆

15 years of ownership and I'm still enjoying my daily drives in the IS350. The Lexus L-Finesse design still has a modern look.

Redspencer, is not really an F-Sport, but you know, your car has so many mods and F-sport bits and pieces, the car has earned the badge... ha ha!
