I agree with vorbidan, the dealer will perform recalls. I went in with the carbon build up issue and they took my car from me performed tests but unfortunately they didn't fix anything because they couldn't replicate the issue, and they didn't charge me for labor while my car was there for 3 hours. So your argument is invalid.

If this car is sold for $11,000, I would assume that it is 5+ years old, so no manufacturer warranty whatsoever. In general if you are saving 20% or more on a salvage car - it is a good deal.
At the end it is about how you feel about owning a rebuilt from salvage car, some people don't care when others prefer to buy a "certified used" car.
I agree with you on the recall as it's a totaly diffrent issue but the bellow statement is straight from the Lexus website.

Also the emissions is a total diffrent item as that a federal mandate for all car manufactures.

"•Any vehicle that has been issued a "salvage" title or similar title under any state's law. This also includes cars that have been declared a "total loss" or equivalent by a financial institution or insurer, such as by payment for a claim in lieu of repairs because the cost of repairs exceeded the cash value of the vehicle. This exclusion does not apply to the emission control warranties with later usage."

I'm sorry but you just got lucky and dealt with a SA that did not dig deeper into your cars history.

I'm not the only that went into the dealer with salvage I know others and they didn't get charged either. So like I said argument is not valid they will perform any recall on salvage car.

A recall is not performed under "Warranty" hell a car can have 300k miles and the recall will have to performed as it is just that a recall.

However try to get something done that's under service bulletin and I'm sure they won’t do it....but hey I'm not the one with a salvage vehicle so I'll keep enjoying my IS350 with 6k miles with plenty of bumper to bumper coverage remaining,.

right, and you think he is buying an under 4yo car for $11,000...
on the other hand - if the warranty is so important, as obviously in your case, then buy brand new from dealer, otherwise you will always be unhappy.
As I previously said - the only thing which matters is - how comfortable you are with what you are buying.

I have owned multiple "rebuilt from salvage" cars - never had any problems beyond what other people were having with the same cars. Also when buying a car with a "history" you need to consider the quality of the work done on your car. You can take it to an "official" repair shop and they will ruin your car.
Having said all that, I would not buy a newer, lets say under 4yo, lexus with a "rebuilt from salvage" title. However I just bought a '12 Toyota Yaris with 800 miles on it for 2/3 of the price

Once again vorbidan said what I wanted to. As for me I got a salvage because I was 18 at the time when I got my IS. I'm 19 right now and I still like to goof around while driving. I only recommend cars from the dealer to people that have a bunch of money that they can waste, and to older mature people. FYI since I bought my 08 IS250 for 14K I won't feel bad if anything happens to it. Unlike others that wreck their cars that they paid 35K for.

Here is the report. I'm not afraid of salvaged titles. I have had a few in the past and never had a problem. I also have a full shop to fix any damage that was not done right. What I what to know is what's a real price of this car? It's a 2006 AWD with a bit over 100k miles. I haven't seen it yet so I have no idea how the repairs are and if anything looks completely whack.

He was asking 15k, I offered 10k and after I ran the car fax and told him about the four accidents he said he would go down to 11k. He is the 2nd owner and didn't seem to know it was in four accidents. In my mind I want to pay 9-10k if the car looks like it was repaired right and has no major blemishes. What do you think?

Looks like the above incident was the final nail in the coffin. If a ditch cause the vehicle to be declared a total loss then I would walk away as the unibody most likely ended up being damaged.

Sounds suspicious to me. The fact that he dropped 4k off his asking price without any negotiation means he bought the car for cheap and now was trying to flip it a make money to an unknowing person that wouldn't check the history. Sounds shady to me...

Pass on it, in addition to all the collisions it has a "non-actual" miles reported. If you really want a project car - get it off of the salvage auction and rebuild it yourself, this way you can put whatever bumper cover, etc you want without overpaying.

Wonder if that owner had a driver license with all those accidents
