Default 2IS Rear Bumper Applique... Help!

Quick question... My 08 IS250 did't come with one of those Lexus branded bumper stickers to protect from any kind of scratches. So, I ordered one from the dealer the other day. Went to pick it up today, and the parts guy said: "Who you gettin to put this on?" Frankly, I had assumed that a simple sticker wouldn't be that difficult to apply. According to him, these are tricky parts to "stick" on. He suggested that I pay $75 to a local company to install it, as the Lexus dealer will not. So my question to you all is: Have you applied one yourself? Is it difficult? Should I pay for someone else to do it? Help!!! Thanks!

It's just a sticker. Just take your time prepping the bumper (cleaning and wiping off dust). I'm sure he just doesn't want you to have bubbles or whatever. It just depends on how perfect you want it and how much you trust yourself.

Yeah, I've watched one being placed and its not complicated. Clean surface and patience is all you need.

Theres a DIY floating around youtube, but they don't show the end product so not sure whether they did a quality job.

Surface prep is key, i would degrease/take off all the wax, claybar and make sure the surface is squeaky clean before applying

If you don't have patience, it will be a night mare... i had one on my old car, took about 3 hours to put the whole thing on. but it completely wrapped the front bumper and the front hood.

I paid the dealer to install it. It looked perfect...till I painted my bumper.

Do you really need it? I've had my IS for almost 7 years and there is not a mark on the bumper ... you just have to be aware of putting things in and out of the trunk. Although it would appear it is 'just a sticker' these things are tricky to get on straight and with no bubbles.

not hard at all, ive done it in 30 mins. just clean the bumper, use 50/50 soap water mix and saturate the bumper and place applique on. when its saturated, you can slide the applique around and into place before squeegeeing out the air/ bubbles
