Here's a pic of mine. Running 18" Motegis on F Sport springs. I like the way my car looks, but would definitely have done coils instead of springs if I had it to do over again. I will likely go with coils when my struts are due for replacement.......

To me 19" on our IS is the right wheel diameter---For Look.

18" is for performance

20" is for show

17" is for go.

Yes it took a bit of searching to get the right sizes down. I found all the info in the two AWD wheel and tire fitment threads here on CL. I believe right now I'm sitting 25.25" from the top of the fender arch to the ground.

There's maybe half a finger gap in the rear and about a finger up front.
Car looks great man! Let me know if you want to sell those wheels lol!

I had 17 stockers on my car when I was lowered on Megan EZ. Very comfortable, very close to stock. With all the extra tires from the sidewall, a little less comfortable now that I'm on 19s.

Lowering the car will create vibration on the IS250 AWD for anything lower than 25" from the ground to fender.

Also, keep in mind the stock car naturally has camber and will camber out more when lowered and eat the crap out of the tires, so be prepared to buy camber kits or buy new tires every 10k or so (or flip the tires from left to right vice versa if the tires you choose doesn't have a specific outside and inside).

Good luck!
Guess it's time to list em for sale

I've read a little bit about that vibration and it's definitely something that needs to be avoided. Do you know approximately how much of a drop will take you to the 25" mark?

I was planning on hopefully not lowering it enough to get too much neg camber, another reason why bigger wheels are a must =/

That looks pretty damn good to me! And with just a little bit of low and 18's, that's encouraging. According to what I've read the f-sports drop about 1" in the front and 0.75" in the rear. Is that about what you experienced? Why would you do coils if you had to do it all over again? Do you just want more low? How does it ride? (I had Honda Factory Performance suspension on my Civic and only got about 0.75" around and it rode pretty dern rough).

In considering springs (again would prefer megan ez's or bc's but, cheaper low = better wheels) I put this little thing together to kind of help me decide:

Rates (lb/n) Drop (in)
Spring F R F R
OEM 256 291 0 0
Swift 258 291 -0.8 -0.6
Rmagnets 625 550 -2 -2
H&R 1.4 1.3
S Tech 364 381 -1.7 -1
F Sport 268-291 228-400 -1 -0.75

I can't for the life of me find the spring rates for H&R. A lot of people have those and seem really happy with em so I feel like it could be a good choice. The Swift springs don't offer much drop but they're linear and have the same spring rates as oem so I'd imagine the ride quality wouldn't change at all. Road magnets are out of the question to use on oem shocks. S Techs have a tempting drop but the rates seem a bit high to me to use on oem shocks. F-Sports are still a maybe but everyone says they only have those for a little while then they switch. I'm going on my third suspension setup on my Si so I know how that is lol. But again, that's me, this is my gf, if her car doesn't ride super comfy we'll have issues.

Smallest size from the factory on the IS250 is 16x7 all around with 205/55R16. It looks a bit ridiculous.

17x8 all around with 225/45R17 front and 245/45R17 rear is the base size in the USA on RWD models.
18x8 with 225/40R18 front and 18x8.5 with 245/40R17 rear is the upgrade size in the USA for RWD models.

I think 17's can look very good on the car, if they're the right wheels (width/offset) and they have the right tire size, and your car has the right ride height to pull it off.

Personally I think I like the way 18's look best. 19's start looking a bit too big, but again it depends on the style of the wheel. Some larger wheels actually look smaller depending on the design of the wheels.

Sweeeeeeet!

Just bought some Volk TE37's in 18x8.5+30 !

They need to be powdercoated but for $1200 that's a killer deal!!

Now just have to decide on suspension. Hm.....

you could do 255/40/18. The 2IS 18x8.5 has 255/40/18 tires on the rear.

I'd like to keep the rolling diameter as close to stock as possible.

Size Diameter
225/45/17 24.97" (stock)
225/40/18 25.09"
245/40/18 25.72"
255/35/18 25.03"
255/40/18 26.03"

So it looks like I'll either go with 225/40 or 255/35, probably 225/40 because the tires are a lot cheaper, I'd imagine that would only produce a very slight stretch, I have 215/45/17 on 8" wide wheels and it's just a slight stretch.

Just bought some Megan ez street coils.. got a pretty sweet deal from circuit motorsports ($649).

I think I'm also gonna go with the kumho ecsta asx in 225/40/18. Seems like it'll be a great all season tire that'll last a long time. (These wheels will be ran year round) and I can buy a set of 4 on eBay for $428.

Edit: $416 from discounttiredirect.com (best pricing on tires I've found, plus, free shipping!)

Update:

Got the wheels and they are pretty dern ruff! Definitely will need a fresh powdercoat but after that they'll be A-OK. I found on the sticker inside the wheel well that these are from 2003! I thought that was pretty cool.

I started the install on the Megan EZ streets and hit a big bump. The bolt that attaches the LCA to the strut will not come out for anything, and neither will the rear LCA bolt. Once I get all this together I'll definitely post some pics.

When I got my new set of wheels, I decided to go with 18's. I kind of regretted it and wished I got 19's instead so I think 17's would look too small on our cars.

But then again, to each their own.

Oh well, have some 18's and gonna roll with those for a while. I did a test fit on em and realized why everyone's wheel sizes are so aggressive, I'm gonna definitely need to run spacers to sit flush =/

i could've told you that...in order to be aggressive you may need +10-15 spacers especially in the rear...I hope you like the EZ...I'm running BC and the 90% of the people that are on EZ switch to BC..better quality, ride and reliability...post some pics when the wheel get installed
