The carbon build up is not a "breaking down" issue, which is what the OP asked. It's just a rough idle that is covered under warranty if your miles aren't too high.

That is a very clean lexus that's a good one. Well if i was buying i would of offered him 17,000 and start from there. You should start with a low price and go from there. I always like to research the car's value on the Kelly Blue Book. And actually 18,000 is a fair price.
Go here --->http://www.cars.com/go/kbb/kbbMain.j...D&pt=&referer=
Put the mileage of the car and you will see how much it is actually worth. And you may show the facts about the price to seller to your advantage.
Good luck

We just bought our first Lexus from a Dallas dealership - '08 IS250 with 52k miles, one owner, never wrecked, clean carfax & autocheck, clean title. I really tried to buy from an individual but needed a warranty, since not sure about the high end maintenance costs. We paid $20k, so your 07 with a few more miles seems a decent price; you can offer less, & our guys came down 3000, but it equaled the local market value. Try "car gurus.com" for a good comparison. We like it so far, after only 2 weeks and a few hundred miles. I love the handling, the sporty looks, interior quality and our color ( Matador Mica Red) The dealer put some cheap tires on it, so will upgrade those soon. Hope your purchase goes well - I would check the title out good, too

A rebuilt or salvage title usually means a major wreck or loss (like flood damage) that the insurance co. considered bad enough to be "rebuilt". While it may appear good and drive w/o any issues, I would want it thoroughly inspected by an independent Lexus mechanic. Also, if you decide to sell it later, the next buyer might not be interested. As far as 100k on these cars, if proper maintenance is done, they should go twice that far w/o problems. I am not sure about the carbon build-up, but this forum has more experienced owners than myself. Hope this helps.
