I replaced the throttle body in my 2006 IS250 today. The catalyst to this was a CEL with the P0172/P0175 codes. I cleared them but the next day I got the same codes along with one for the MAF. I took the car to get it serviced and the first thing they tried to do was clean the MAF sensor. When that didn't resolve the issue, they replaced it. That didn't resolve the issue and they did further diagnosis and found that the throttle body wasn't functioning properly.
I had explained to the service guys that when my CEL light up, I was having issues accelerating. It almost felt like there was some lag to get it from 1st and 2nd gear and then the car would kick into 3rd and so forth. This correlated with their explanation that the electronic motor that moves the flap in the throttle was not receiving a signal to open the flap. Long story short, the throttle body was replaced and the car feels great.
I wanted to share to other members the other symptoms I experience and will list them below.
1. Random rough idle (I had the carbon deposit TSB performed before)
2. Car feels rough and jerks when it shifts between 1st and 2nd gear.
3. Lag when trying to accelerate, especially from 1st and 2nd gear.
4. Engine almost stalls when performing a quick stop.
5. Excessive carbon in the tail pipe.
I hope that helps with some of the diagnosing for some when they have these issues. The throttle body is a very expensive piece but fairly easy to replace. eBay sells some used ones for a fraction of the cost (you take your chances).
