Default buying a 2006 is250

Hey everyone..... Im trying to buy an is250 in Orlando that is my wifes boss so I kind of know the person but don't. My question is.... 2006 is250 fully loaded (back up cam and etc) for 11k but has 105k miles. What are your thoughts and if I choose to buy it what should I look for, ask about and expect to fix perhaps in the future.... thank you for all your help!!!!!!!

You should have the water pump checked out as well and see if the car has any carbon build up issues

I agree with the above post's. The 2006 IS had a couple of TSIB which Lexus will fix if any is occurring.

Definitely check out the IS250 FAQ sticky post, very helpful for these kind of questions.

I would definitely read the buyers guide to start:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

Try getting the VIN and registry the car here to see all maintenance history if its done through Lexus: https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...serviceHistory

agreed with checking the sticky dash and all "cosmetic" issues that you might have to get done, as well as the water pump. See if they have the service records, i bought mine used but the person had it serviced at Lexus every time, so i knew what was going on with the car ever since she bought it.

I would actually pray there is some carbon buildup in the engine so you can get the $7500 dollar engine work done for free (making the engine basically brand new).

sounds like a really great price though.

That's all great information... thank you all!!!!. I kind of figured the water pump and possibly the timing chain to be safe. I will definitely read the posts mentioned. He had it serviced at the Lexus dealership every time with records and also told me that for the first month he would split 50/50 any repairs if they arise. He's "confident" its flawless but I don't trust anyone regarding vehicles ya know..... I agree,,, I kind of hope the carbon build up is present if that's the case. I will definitely do my reading and hopefully purchase the vehicle>>>>

thank you!

have the car inspected by Lexus dealership...usually costs under $200...but definately worth it.

they will inspect every little tiny thing and give u an inspection report...

whatever they find wrong, ask the seller to fix it first or deduct the price and u can get it fixed at a cheaper place...

make sure the title is clear...not salvage title.

good luck

interesting he said he would split repair bills 50 50, either thats a really awesome deal, or there is something wrong with the car. maybe just have him repair anything that might need to be repaired up front . the inspection might not be a bad idea.

Ask for the VIN of the car. Then sign-up for an account on Lexus.com. Use this VIN as "Your Vehicle"; you will then be able to see the car's entire Lexus dealership service history (including recalls/TSIBs/general maintenance/etc).

GL!
