Default New to me inspection

Hi guys, new to the forum but have been reading threads for a while. I just purchased a used 2009 IS 250 off a regular used car dealer last week. I made an appointment with the local dealer tomorrow to do a overall inspection of the car to point out any problems, recalls, and to go into the lexus data base to give me the vechicles maintenance history. The cost is one hours work ($135). Do you think this is a total waste of money or do you definetly think I should go for it?

Thanks in advance for all your info and responses!

P.S. Sorry, I don't know why the pic turned upside down

Since you already bought the car I'd say it's a waste of money. Enjoy your new ride and deal with any problems as they arise.

Yea but I have a 30 day full coverage warranty so if they tell me something's wrong I can get it fixed on their dime.

Well I had the inspection done and glad I did. They found a little bit of oil leaking from timing chain plate and a little from some kind of boots in the suspension and also said one of the tires is balled on the inside and the tires will need to be replaced by next service so I'll be asking for them to be replaced also!! Info well worth the $135 price tag!

I did it when i bought my car and I think its totally worth it. Its $135 that could potentially steer you away from a big disaster down the line.

I'll tell you what, I still have the temp plate on it as the used dealer I got it from is gonna register it Monday but if they don't agree to fix everything tomorrow I'll be going back to the Lexus dealer to purchase this 2014 IS 250F Sport in Matador red sitting on the floor for $44,000!

^If you can afford to do the newer '14 F-sport, why not just go ahead with it? Was the '09 a really good deal or something?

The 09 was $22,000 and I put $10,000 down, which left me with a small car payment, and honestly at the time I was looking and purchased this car I didn't even know anything about the Fsport package or I would of looked for one with it. I initially was looking for a bmw but my wife steered me away from them to lexus because of maintaince cost and issues!

If the timing chain cover is leaking you better have them fix it, its a $3,500 repair as they need to pull the engine out.

I had it happen on my IS350, and from the sounds of it, you might have the same thing. Its one of the very few things that requires the engine to be removed.

I would make sure its a Lexus tech doing the work.

I find it difficult to believe you absolutely have to remove the motor to replace the timing cover seal. I DO believe it is hella time-consuming though and expensive if the dealership does it.

The car has 80,000 miles. Kinda high but I figured what the hell, it's a lexus, it'll go forever right!
