The extra weight plus the very long diff ratio of 3.133 (<<!!! Wtf??) means that the 3IS is slower off the line. But it should pull stronger after 80mph...
Did you even read my first post? The gearing is actually shorter off the line for the 3IS (14.40:1 vs. 14.37:1 for the 2IS). You can't just look at the final drive without also looking at the transmission gear ratios.

Awesome! And the flux capacitor kicks in at 88mph ....sweet!
i tested the 3IS 350 F-Sport RWD and it feels slower and doesn't pull as hard as my 06 2IS... handling is better with 3IS, also seat comfort and interior quality... engine sounds like a camry after they duct those engine noise into the cabin =.=" i swear the engine sounds way better on 2IS for some reason...
From what local sales (who organized a "meet" for the 3is launch) told me, the rwd 3is350 has the old isf transmission (8spd) which we all know had a disadvantage from the 2is350 6spd. but the 3is350 awd still comes with the same 6spd.

The 3Is350 uses a slightly different version of the 8 speed transmission found in the IS-F. 3IS 8-speed has the new “G-force Artificial Intelligence” feature as well as a slightly slower upshift (0.3sec) and downshift (0.2sec). Gear ratios in the 8 speed remain the same for both cars.
