Default Best Way to Protect Front Bumper?

Hi all,

So with all the annoying paint chips and rocks on the road that cannot be avoided, what is everyone's solution to best protect your front bumper?

There was the thread a while back about the 3M spray/tape; anybody have success with it? People on road trips use blue tape, but I'm looking for best practices for daily driving. Maybe there isn't a solution.

Thanks.

Clear bra would be the best way to go. The 3m clear films offer pretty good protection, but can be a bit pricey. But they are good for about 3 - 5 years. It cost me close to about 300-400 bucks for film only for hood+bumper.

If that's too expensive, then you can go for the spray on "bras". You'll most like have to do 2 cans to get about 3 -4 coats on. Spray on bras last about a year.

3m clear bras are crap. if you have to do clear bra, go with xpel ultimate. i still dont like clear bras, you'll end up with a chipped up clear bra that looks like crap. i would just repaint the bumper every year or two depending how much you drive and tailgate.

Yea, that's another thought I had -- to repaint the bumper. I figured I could repaint and put a film of some sort to make it last longer. Doesn't look like there's a set solution.

when i repainted my old car, i spent a lot of money on the best PPG clear coat out. it was much more durable. when i sold the car, had 1 rock chip(not even big), sounds crazy but i even put a flash light to find imperfections. put 15k miles on that paint. i know mercedes uses expensive urethane clears.

For as much as some people spend on films, nice clear coats, and waxes you can get a new painted front bumper cover from Sewell.
