Do you take your IS in every 5k miles for recommended service?
Hey guys, I bought my CPO 2010 IS250 this past Aug at 43xxx miles and its just about to hit 45000 miles. I was wondering if the recommended schedule maintanence at every 5000 miles is worth doing at the dealership. I checked over the list of stuff they actually do to the car and it doesn't seem worth the ~330-550 price the dealers around me are quoting online. Plus, I'd imagine most of that stuff was looked at before they sold me the car right? I know they changed the oil and changed all the fuilds when I bought the car.
I've already had to get the battery replaced (covered) and they did an evaporator treatment service on the ac system. Seems redudent to get this service done. Opinions?

Is the $330-550 the 45,000 mile maintenance price? I tend to agree with the school of thought of only asking the dealer for the actual service needed, and not the "scheduled maintenance"...https://www.clublexus.com/forums/6612388-post10.html

I feel as though anything scheduled maintenance below 60k is BS that is not really needed. its recommended but not NEEDED. Most engine components (if quality parts are used) can last beyond 60k which includes plugs, belts, (some) fluids, etc. Some times you can squeeze a little more than 5k with the oil too. There is the luck of the draw that things fail prematurely but don't let dealers change what is NOT needed. It becomes a waste of money after sometime changing a belt or other components at half its life span and if you just got the car, then the dealer should have done the 150pt inspection to make sure your good and change whats bad

What I do for each 5K maintenance schedule is:
1. look at the owner's manual and find all the replacement items needed. Most of the time it's just oil/filter change.
2. Go to dealer and get oil/filter change for $65 which comes with a good car wash. Dealer often offer 27 multipoint inpsection for free. And If additional repair/maintenance is required, dealer would tell me.
3. For the additional repair/maintenance, I would buy parts from Sewell and go to my local mechanics to perform the job and save about at least 40%.
Hope that helps.
