it happened before 14 but cant remember the year. Change for the better, that was incredibly annoying on the 06

Just dropped mine off for the recall. They stated they will have it through most of the day. Got a loaner, es 300h. Miss my is350 already. The 300h is quote and certainly luxury feel but an absolute boat to drive.

Also was experiencing a popping noise behind the head unit and hope they resolve that as well. Happens a lot and becoming annoying and embarrassing. Something plastic is flexing making a horrible noise.

Me again, got my car back. Dropped it off around 7:30 this morning, they were done by 3. Idle is a little rough, car shifts a little weird, but I'll give it a couple days and see what happens. I'm a little thrown because I was in an ES300h and it was a little too smooth for me.

Also got my oil changed as well and tires rotated ($140). Overall, happy with the service. I believe the total cost for the recall covered under warranty was in the neighborhood of $1,350. Have to love warranties.

Unfortunately they weren't able to reproduce the popping noise behind my head unit so I'll need to see if I can do that myself. It's pretty consistent so I was a little surprised they weren't able to drive it around to hear it.

tarant what do you mean by the idle is rough? I never noticed this before but I got my car back from the actuator recall & as soon as I started the engine I was idling at 2k... is this normal? It felt like someone had their foot on the gas just enough to be at 2k ....

I was idling pretty high and it may be due to the battery reset that was done. I figured I would give it a few days but I don't think it has dropped much below the 1k rpm since I got it back. It was near if not at 2k when I got it back.

I don't think it's a problem though and will report back over the weekend. It's just not smooth right now and I have conflicting results because it has been below 5 degrees here recently and it runs rough in the winter. I don't blame a car for idling a little high when the wind chill hits -30.

I did sit in my garage after the drive home with the engine on and it seemed ok. I had to reprogram all my radio presets so gave the car a chance to warm up (yes was still cold after drive home). Thinking back on it the idle didn't bother me as much as it did earlier this week so it's either adjusting or likes the fact the high will be 28 today.

i schedule to bring my car in next week. i'm kind of hesitate to do so, my car is running without any issues, smooth idling, good mpg (consistently in 24 -25 range mixed driving). i'm hearing there will be learning curve for ECU after the recall job, during which the car would feel weird and gets bad gas mileage, it needs to "re-learn" your driving habit again. how long would this "learning curve" be? a week? 500 miles? or more?

Driving is much better for me now. Idling has smoothed out. Been about 4 days.

Noticing poor gas mileage though, only 16.2mpg. Had a full tank courtesy of Lexus and about 120 miles today, pretty much half tank gone. This has happened once before after a maintenance, took about 2 tanks to get back up to 19-22mpg. No big deal there.

Yes. It does not matter where you take it. Corporate compensates the dealership for the work done. The only reason I would assume they may not change it if a car was declared totaled.

Took mine in the other day, vacuumed the inside, washed the outside, filled it up with gas (brought it on empty), and let me know the waterpump has a leak on it and gave me a 2014 ES300H as a loaner for 2 days. My IS350 still had paper plates from a Ford dealership I got it from used last month.

Does dealer charge for checking this issue on IS250, if it's out of warranty?

The IS 250 is not part of this recall, so yes.

Blah blah blah, it's how they were installed at the factory....BS BS BS.

Anyhow, since their appears be at least one knowledgeable Lexus tech on here I'll ask this question here too.

Why is the fix for the TSIB is to replace the actual cam gear and the recall is only to fix/replace the cam bolts?

Curious to see what ideas we have in regards to this; my '06 350 has experienced the cam rattle about 10 times since I've owned it in 4/1/11.

Thanks!
It`s now Jan 2014. I just made an appointment FOR MY 08 GS350 at my Ct. dealer for the cam
recall. NO PARTS YET. They said 60 cars ahead of me.??.......

Walked into my dealership Charles Barker Lexus on Thursday and said he could take the car on the spot!! I returned on Friday. Service advisor hooked me up with a 2014 GS 350 AWD. Car is fixed and running nicely.

Thanks for the help!!
