When exactly do you guys hear the rattling noise??? Because on start-up I dont hear a rattling noise, but when I gas lightly I do here something rattling.. I've been trying to pinpoint this noise, but I'm not sure if it's the cam gear bolts.. It does come from the engine bay though. Can someone verify if this is the noise you guys hear or is this something else?
I have the same rattle on rev that you described but my VIN isnt covered for the recall. What ended up happening with your issue
Just wondering, is your car still making that noise? Have you taken any measure to try to ease that?
Mine is still making the noise. 2008 IS250 @ 145k miles. It's been making it since 60k miles. I brought it up when the car was still under warranty but the dealer was unable to replicate it . It progressively became worse. The noise happens when the vehicle is warm and is parked for a short period of time after driving and then restarted. I only use the IS now to drive back and forth to work so it's rarely in that situation to make the noise but it does occasionally. So far the engine hasn't grenaded. I did notice after using marvel mystery oil with a few oil changes that it seemed to help but like I said the vehicle driving conditions have changed over the years.
Edit: I want to add that I also own a Sienna that shares the same block. I have noticed the cam gear noise with it as well but I'm over 80k now on that car and it is rare to hear it.
