Default Don't bother with TYC headlights for IS250/350

SO my 06 is350 had foggy headlights with halogens. The covers were faded and foggy on the inside and out. no amount of sanding was bringing them back. No kits. nothing. just done after 160,000 miles non garaged.

I found a pair of new TYC IS350 headlights on ebay for $380 shipped. Bought em and threw them on the car.

They LOOK amazing, but the projectors are really sub par and bad.

I am planning on melting the lenses off all 4 and swapping the clear lenses of the TYC's to the OEM headlights so I get good optics and clear and clean new looks all in one.

Here are my pictures.

Just wanted to share. TYC is not anywhere near up to OEM quality for our Lexus IS's

Installed! Took me 1:30 from start to finish and I have never removed a bumper before.

The cutoff and optics.,.... blah...horrible...

I tried both with halogen H11's and HID kit H11's, both are equally bad. The STock Lexus headlights are amazing with both halogen and HID kit bulbs in them.

For an extra $100+ shipping you gotta got oem brand new or bought used one for about $300.

And what are HID kit inserts? Are you saying you put a HID kit in the OEM halogen projectors without any other modification and got that output?

No way the stock halogen with aftermarket hid kit can get near that cut off, that mod half front stock with RX350 half back bowl and str clear lens to get that sharp cut off like that

Careful with heating the TYC headlights up to separate the lenses, both the lenses and the housing are low quality plastic so they may melt.

Maybe send them to a projector-retrofitting company like HIDIllusionz or something. Get some Acura TL or TSX projectors retrofitted in.

That's funny, my car's headlights have this "line" also, guess it's just a normal issue from the beams hitting the edge of the trunk? I thought maybe I had mine set wrong, all good.

^ that's factory setting having the driver side lower then the passenger side to not blind incoming traffic.

Yeah its called a step in the cutoff. If you look at the projectors from RHD cars they have the opposite pattern. I've seen people modify the shield so that the cutoff is flat though.
