Default tire question

I know its probably been beat to death but I searched and did not really see a definitive answer.. I have an 06 is350 and my rear winter tires are finished, has anyone been running the same 225/40/18 size all around for the winter to allow for rotation?

What I mean is the 225 tires going on the wider rear rims?

Depends on the tire and the individual shop that is doing the installation. Some shops won't go outside of manufacturer recommendations, and most 225/40-18 tires aren't recommended on an 8.5" rim.

Remember even if you have the same size tires on all of your staggered wheels, the wheels are still staggered. Do you really want wheels with a different width and offset mixed and matched on the car just because they have the same size tire on them?

I run 225-45-18 all around on oem wheel no issue. There a tiny stretch on the rear nothing that crazy. Plus running narrow has better traction for snow tires. I do rotate them by every two years. Dismounting the front to swap to the rear but not rotating the rims. My tire guy does it all for 25 which isn't bad.

$25 to unmount and swap tires? damn!

Here it's like $80 to do that so buying a set of used rims or steelies and just swapping wheels pays for itself pretty quick.

OP, you really want to unmount and remount your tires every year?

I was planning on doing this once. The service dept. guy said this was terrible for the tires as it would wear out the beads or something like that.
