Default Lexus IS350 VVT Recall

Just got the letter for my Lexus IS350 recall notice for the Intake VVT Actuator Gear.
I'm just wondering if I have to take my Joe-Z Intake out before I take it in. Should I put my stock intake back in?

Alright, thanks! I was just worried it might void something to fix it cause it did say "Intake VVT." Didn't want to give htem any reason not to fix it free of charge.

They will be changing the gears on the intake camshafts. Nothing to do with your intake, no worries.

They can only void the warranty on something if what you modified directly affects it. So your intake has nothing to do with the recall in question and you will be fine. It's an actual law I believe to protect people from dealerships doing that. "Oh, you modified your intake so we're going to have to void that warranty on the windshield wipers...".

You'll be fine. You could go in with modified headers, exhaust, and intake at this point and would be fine.

Does anybody know if the accessory belt comes off for this fix?

It does. I placed a new belt that I purchased from Sewell in the car and had the wife tell the service adviser to put it on when doing the recall. When she picked the car up the next day, they told her the belt on the car was fine and that there was no reason to swap it out, so I still have it in the garage as a spare.

And to put the OP at ease, my car has a K&N short ram intake and they did the recall without issue and didn't mention it being on the car.

I left my Fujita intake on during the VVT cam gear recall; no issues to speak of.

I read the recall notice online but didn't get a sense of what damage could occur if the part were to fail. Anyone know the worst case scenario? I only ask because engine gave out last week and they claim it was not the recall.

I went in 2 weeks ago to have them check of the rattle issue during startups. I know this is predominantly found on 350's but my 250 has had it occur on several occasions. Because of some mishap on the last service visit, the Service managers asked me to bring it in and they'll do the cam gear change on my 250.

I know our engine's are different, but it still has the same cam-gear that can be re tightened - er at least replaced. Am i in the wrong to say that it can't be done on the 250's?
