Default Transmission jerks, shifting from 6th to 5th 2006 IS350

Hello everyone.

I have a 2006 IS350 with 96k miles with 100k warranty,

lately I have noticed that when the car is in 6th gear at freeway speed with my foot on the gas peddle to maintain the speed, If I down shift to 5th the transmission doesn't rev match and I get this jolt / jerk.

Anyone else experiencing this problem ??

If you are within warranty why not have the dealer take a look? Least thats what I would do

Has the battery been disconnected recently? Sounds like it needs to re-learn smooth shifts.

Might want to have them change the transmission fluid and see if it helps. Transmission fluid is due every 100k miles.

Not on these cars. Transmission is sealed and the fluid should last the life of the car.

Start by resetting the car by disconnecting the battery for at least 15 minutes. Then drive the car thereafter as the way you would like it to perform going forward. See if that helps.

thats what i would suggest too. my car down shifts a tad more aggressive in "pwr" setting, but not in normal mode. but just reset then let the car relearn your driving habit. should help

Transmission fluid and filter. FIlters are usually good for 100-130K before they start plugging up. "Lifetime fluid" should be changed every 60K if you live in a warmer climate like the SW, FL or you just drive hard. My dealer charges $150 for a fluid drain and fill.

Default No go.

Disconnected the battery to 20 min and still no go.
Note, the down shift from 6th to 5th is manually via steering wheel paddle or the shiftter.

Maybe motor or transmission mount ??

I noticed it after a dealer major recall.

Take it to the dealer since you're still under warranty. You want to get this problem documented ASAP.

The transmission is linked to the chassis with some pretty soft and actually useless mounts. This is one reason for your crappy downshifts esp if you are loading the front of the chassis with hard braking. My car is smooth however most gears but 3rd to 2nd with hard braking their is often times a hard clunk. I hope to have time in the near future to design better mounts for this car.

World Standard ATF specs recommend changing it at 100k.
