Default Bad Wheel Bearing or Bridgestone Potenza RE050's? RE050 Owners, Please Chime In.

I'm getting a lot of road noise recently in my 2008 IS350 - specifically on the highway and slowing down from 40-0 MPH. I currently have worn out Bridgestone RE050's (15-20% tread remaining) and I'm trying to figure out if it's the tires or a bad wheel bearing.

I previously owned an IS250 with a bad front wheel bearing and that caused a humming sound that got louder when I put weight on that wheel (front passenger). The sound I'm hearing now in my IS350 is quite different and is a whirring sound that resembles loud road noise. It's loudest on the highway and when slowing down from 40-0 MPH. Would a bad RWD IS350 wheel bearing sound differently than a bad AWD IS250 wheel bearing?

Past or current owners of Bridgestone RE050's: Did you hear the same type of loud, whirring road noise? I searched this tire and I'm getting common feedback that they're really loud.

If you had a bad wheel bearing in an RWD IS350: Did you get a whirring sound resembling loud road noise on the highway and slowing down from 40-0 or was it a humming sound?

Thanks in advance.

Tires, tires, tires.I have had 950s.Same thing. Now Michelin A/S 3 bit noisy too, but different sound. The newer asphalt you are on the loudest it gets.Lift front up and push top and bottom of the wheels.Once a month or more often.Rotate your tires and see any slight difference in sound.

Good feedback. I'll have to pay closer attention on new asphalt and see if it's louder. I read a lot of positive reviews on Hankook V12's, wonder if those are quieter . These RE050's have to be pretty loud for me to actually think there's something wrong with the car!

Actually, in a way, I'm glad you asked because I have Blizzaks waiting to go on the car. If those are also loud, I'd put them on then realize it's still loud and fork over big $$$$ for wheel hubs.

I've ran several sets of RE050s on other cars, never our IS, and ALWAYS found that as they got low on tread the generated a lot of road noise compared to other tires I've experienced.
