Hm, so what is the socket ballast dis-assembly for exactly? I see a lot of people referencing different things for different scenarios.

(the Joe Z video in the thread below)
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...tallation.html

Almost need a flow chart.. lol.
Do you have these parts? Yes, take this one apart, add this wire. Do you want leds on always? No? Do this step, Yes? Do these steps, do you want 100% LED or 50% LED?

So basically I have 07 with AFS/Xenon(HID) currently, And the parts I have on the way are, 2 2012 headlights with all their wires internally, harness, and caps.

So far it looks like I need to mod the brackets currently on mine and remove the brackets attached to the 2012 headlights. Then change the wires on the harness(new or one attached to car?) a bit(Still not certain on this one) so that it always comes on(Do this by connecting a certain wire to the ignition fuse using a fuse addon), and at 100%. Do something with the ballast(This i'm clueless as to what it does)

I'm following your post with interest...
For me 2 options :

1) change to 2012 headlights with the amazing Leds... but loose AFS

2) integrate a LED strip in my 2008 headlights ... spray them glossy black..... (but I'm searching for good/white/ powerful led strips )

so is the 'led wiring' the cable that runs along the bottom of the headlight?

I've updated more info I've found on the original post. My end goal is to have a list of parts and changes needed if you DON'T start with sewell kit.

Yes, the LED and turn signal wiring runs along the bottom of the harness. You're going to switch the harness lights because you want to put the LED plug into the spot where the original parker light was in the 05-10 model.

The place where the LED wiring is on the 2011-2012 harness has direct power but on pre-2011 models it's the socket for the AFS motor which has no power for the lights.

The ballast is separate - if you buy a stripped kit then you'll have to move the ballast over from your original HID headlights like the JoeZ video demonstrates - if you buy a loaded used kit then you can skip this step.

Thank you very much for your reply. So it looks like most everything is transferable over.(I'll have to do the ballast one time as one light came with one.) However, do the headlights require one new cap each(the round one) or two? I'm seeing a big circle hole where the circuit bored is?(I assume this is the led plug in?)

There is a cap that comes with the harness to cover the bottom hole. You'll only need 1x cap for the highbeam, you can reuse the square cap for the low beam light from your old headlight and 1x harness for each headlight.

So to clarify the harness you speak of covers https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByP...it?usp=sharing ?

Does that harness need to be bought if it isn't with the new light or is it something pre-existing on the car?

Yep, it has to be bought. The newer headlights are usually sold without it.

It covers that bottom hole

Any clue what the P/N is? The only think I can think of from the diagram below is 81125(8112553540)

So just to confirm:
1. As far as ballast goes, the reason you have to take it apart is to get it out/in from one headlight to the other, no other reason.

2. According to This DIY you must disconnect the green/red wires from the headlight side of the harness, and connect green to ground, and red to power from IG2 fuse. is that all? They do not go back into the harness? Is that all the rewiring that is required? (Is there any cleaner way?)

3. Has anyone found a way to disable AFS warning aside from black tape?

I was able to get my headlights mostly successfully installed. However, When I turned my car on and rolled off the ramp(after verifying everything worked multiple times) I flipped lights on and off a few times then to auto, got out and checked one more time, and my right headlight was out, flipped off/on again and it was back on. Any ideas what could cause this? Loose wire in harness or maybe just needed a reset? I drove up and down the block and it was fine after several on/offs but just a bit concerned now that everything is back together.

(Pic is just of the LED lights)
