Default Warranty For New IS

I am purchasing a 2010 IS250 with Nav, 51k miles. The dealer where I am buying the car is offering a 4 year 48 for 2600. Question is if I should buy this or not.. Seems high to me.

Also curious what the average issues IS people might have under 100k miles and if it's even needed.

Most major issues are covered in recalls which should cover you warranty wise for a while. Ive found in most cases the extended warranty isn't worth it.

Thanks for the reply.

Just wanted to bump this as I have to make a decision today. I called Jerry and he is telling me that this is a good price for the warranty.

What kind of issues have people had under 100k miles?

I have the same year model with 45k miles but I'm not planning on buying warranty. The only thing I would be worry about is the Nav screen going bad but I heard the earlier models having this problem. not many 2010 and after. Other than that we are covered powering wise till 70k and not much can go bad if follow up with the regular maintenance. Save those money.

Keep in mind that your 50K mile/4 year warranty is up.

Unless they have changed it to 60 months bumper to bumper. Read the warranty on Lexus.com.

Lexus extended warranties are offered to cars within the warranty period. They must be selling you aftermarket warranty. In this case, a lot of research is required.

Good luck.

$2600 seems like it's a bit much. That extra $2600 could probably bump you up to a used 350, or at least a lower mileage 250 which would have more factory warranty remaining.

Good luck in your decision.

I have an 07 250AWD, I bought the Lexus extended warranty through Toyota of Greenfield, Mass (thanks, ClubLexus!) for $1480.

So far, the warranty has paid for:
2 door lock actuators ($300 per)
2 rear axle assemblies, the CV boots were leaking (approx. $2100)
2 rear calipers that froze ($800)

Yeah, I got my my value from the warranty, and I still have 5 months left on it.
