I think you will be OK without any issue of rubbing since the new tire is only 0.6" larger in diameter. However, your speedometer will be OFF by 2.5% (it will reads 60 MPH but you are actually going at 62.5) and this also affect your mileage on the OD as well.
Why do you want to do this?

You'd likely have problems with rubbing the tire on the inner fender lines during hard cornering.

I have 245/40/18 on my rims 18x8 +36f offset it rubs on turns at about 75% of the wheel being turned one way.. It hits the corner of the lining where the sideskirts and the fender are attached. That part has a little hump and is the only reason why it rubs.

That "someone" is partially correct. Go larger doesn't mean it will help protect the rims better. Some tire designs are better at protecting the rims with protruding edges! Personally I would stay with the OEM specs and be extra careful when I drive/park.

I don't know the perfect size for this car, but if you're just worried about protecting your rims, then just be more careful when you park and turn near curbs. If you want a larger tire a 235 would be fine without rubbing issues, but with the 245's on my wheels they rub a little as I described above. The offfset of my wheels are also different than the stock wheels so it could rub on a different place or maybe not rub at all as well.

245s tend to be too wide for the front. The usual saying for both aftermarket/stock wheels is to stick with the OEM 225 width. Although I've ran both 235/35/19 and 235/40/18 (what I have currently) without any problems. Depending on your ride height, you may encounter some rubbing, heating up the protruding corner in the lining and pushing it back will resolve that issue.

you can try 235 but you need to use the heat gun to avoid rubbing....

245

you need to get the tires with "rim protector"...but still not 100% guaranteed

Yes the 245s are a tad big like you said, I bought my wheels with these tires on it and it had a lot of thread left so I kept them on. If I were to buy new tires it wouldn't get 245s, but they do ride smooth though. Since the above quote states that 235s are fine you should go with those if you're looking for a larger tire.
