Headlights or just new bulbs??
Hi guys, so right now i have a 06 is350 and I have stock headlights. Before this car I had a 2001 IS300 with HID's. I want to try and stay away from HID's, but I miss my white lights.
So I'm wondering if I should get new headlights, if so which kind? Or maybe just get high performance white bulbs?
Any ideas, I'd appreciate it. thanks

new headlight doesn't help with color temp. You won't able to have white color with out HID and there is NO high performance white bulb (in my knowledge). Someone correct me if i were wrong.
why you want to stay away from HID if you don't mind to be asked.

most IS headlight outputs are the same. You can try to get OEM HID headlights with ballast but you would also spend about a grand for better headlight output when HID's are a mere fraction of the price. You can try better bulbs but I don't think you can beat the output of HID bulbds

Dang, well maybe I'll have to make the switch then.
When i had HID, they didn't seem to reliable. I had the installation double checked and nothing was found. They would work when you turned them on but then one would go out and I had to turn them off and then turn them back on for it to work again.

That the only reason? Get better HID kit and you won't have any problem. Volt HID kit is very reliable. Lot of members here has aftermaket HID and only a very few has problem. I have after market HID on my fog for over 7 years and zero problem.

Sylvania makes halogen bulbs (silverstar ultra) that I would say are about the same color as stock HID's. I had them on my old car and they are a lot cheaper and more reliable than an aftermarket HID.

We've had many forum members Install the XenonDepot HID Kit in their IS300 with great success.
Let me know if you have any specific questions about them.

If your car is the stock halogen projector, you could do a simple fix with a quality HID kit. I always highly recommend Morimoto 3Five kits but we also have sponsors like Xenondepot here on CL.
If you have the HID projectors, you can always look for a quality D4S bulb that has the color temp you're looking for. Don't cheap out when it comes to kits. I've had a DDM tuning kit I gave to my cousin for his birthday and it caught fire. YMMV
Good luck.

This is exactly my point. Usually, you end up with fewer issues when you spend the money right the first time. I've had success with DDM Tuning until I got that kit for my cousin. We switched to Morimoto and we've been golden ever since. YMMV
